This being the date set for receiving and opening of bids for the add it ion to the City Hall. Bids were filed by C . C. Miller and Jos Good. The Board ord-3red all bids held up until Thursday January 23rd., 1919 at 10:00 A.M. The Board instructed Clerkjtoowrite to Councilman John Olejniezak in regard to light onGrant Street..= Plat of Goodland Park Addition to South Bend, Indiana, presented by Joseph Klley, was approved by the Board. The Board .instructed Clerk to notify Indiana & Michigan Electric Company to place new bulb in light at intersection of alley west of Lafayette Blvd on Washington Avenue, and to also clean up Bridge Street and put same in a passable c o �cl it imp. The,Board instructed Clerk to notify Mayor Carsonandn City Attcrney Slick to be present at meeting to be held Thursday January 23rd.,1919. as the matirer of the Pottowatomie Park assessment on pavement would be taken up at this time. Petition filed for a pavement on Sherman Avenue from Portage Avenue to Lincoln Way -West. Resolution ordered on same. Remonstrance filed against pavement on Sherman Avenue from Portage Avenue to Lincoln Way west. Petition received for a pipe sewer on Brookfield Street from Division Street to Ford Street. The Board referred the same to the City Engineer for a resolution, also petition received for pavement on Keasey Street from Carroll Street to High Street. The Board referred this petition toiClty Engineer for a res glut inn, Petit iron received fvr pavement on Elder Street from East line of -lich1gan Street to west line of Carroll Street. Same referred to the City Engineer for a res olut ion Communication received from-R. T. Fabout of the News -Record in regard to erection of a coliseum. Same read and placed on file. Gentlemen: - On June 12th., 1916, we filed with your Board for the W. B. Brady Construction Company a five year maintenance -bond in the amount of $14,150.00 with the Aetna Accident & Liability Company as Surety covering the maintenance of the sheet asphalt pavement to be constructed by the W. B. Brady Construction Company on Eddy Street from Jefferson Boulevard to Mishawaka Ave. and Mishawaka Avenue from Eddy Street to the centfr °of 19th., Street in the City of South Bend, Ind Iana. his bond was filed on the same day that the construction, bond in the amount of $75, 000.00 was -furnished the W. B. Brady Construction. Company. he maintenance bond was to become effective on the date of the acceptance of the completed pavement and run five years from that date. The pavement itself was never completed, and the maintenance bond is therefore of no effect and the same was never accepted or approved by the City, and we would like to have the bond returned for cancellation. Beaning reported on the placing of lights on Portage Avenue as follows: - In order to better satisfy the residents on Portage Avenue. I will s subject the placing of a light on the north east corner of Hamilton Street and Portag Avenue. Remote the light now standing at the corner of Minnequa Street to the Indiana & Michigan,Eiec. Co. pole No. 19744. Place a light on Indiana & Michigan Pole No. 19618. Place a light on Indiana & Michigan Elec. Co. pale No. 17039 but have this pole reset to the north about 40 feet to the cornerof Wilson Avenue, Thos. H. Beaning, The Board instructed the Clerk to notify the Indiana & Michigan Ebec. South Bend, Indiana, Gentlemen: - We hereby offer to test and inspect, in the same intelligent and scientific manner as heretofore, the asphalt paving constructed and awarded in your City during the year 1919 on the same basis as the latter part of last year, viz; two and one-half (2�) cents per square yard for asphaltic concrete (one course construction) and three (3) cents per square yard for Sheet Asphalt, or twb course construction. The character of our service to you will be similar in every respect ,__to that rendered in the past. Olive Street from Washington Avenue Ito Lincoln Way West. Olive Street from Division Street to Sample Street, Sample Street from Walnut Street.to.Division Street. Walnut Street from Sample Street to Division Street. Huron Street from Kosciuszko St. to,Meade Street. Ford Street from Kosciuszko St. to Olive Street. STREET OR ALLEY 10ROVERENT RESOLUTION NO. 595. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, STATE OF INDIANA, that it is cues ired and deemed necessary to improve Haney Avenue from Michigan Street to High Street ,as follows, tdwit:- Said Avenue shall be graded and the roadway thereof shall be paved; and also the roadways of certain portions of the. streets and alley, which enter or intersect said avenge shall be graded and paved. The paving material to be used in makigg said improvement shall eb sheet as1bhalt b itulithic, asphaltic concrete or. br ikkm and the foundation shall be portland cement enncrete five (5) inches thick for the sheet asphalt, bitulithic, asphaltic concrete, and brick, or rolled gravel six (6) inches thick for the brick; also the cement curb now i:l place on said avenue shall be taken out a do concrete combination _curb and Jutter shall be ,constructed along said avenue; storm water inlets and conduits shall be con- structed -where necessary; all manhole tops and storm water inlets shall be set to the proper grade; cement marginal curb shall be constructed at all streets and alleys where necessary, all as is more part icuarly shown and all in accordance with plans, profiles, detail drawings and specifications can file in the office of the Department of Public �ork3 of the Board of Public Works. The cost of the improvement herein provided for, except street and alley intersections, shall be paid by special assessment to be levied upon the property specially benefitted, to the amount that the same may be leg- ally assessed therefor, in accordance with an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled "An Act` Concerning Municipal Corporations," approved March 6, 1805, and in accordance with and pursuant to, the provisions of all acts amendatory and supplemental thereto. JOSEPH COUNTY, STATE OF INDIANA, that it is desired and deemed necessary to improve The first alley east of'Carroll Street from Monroe Street to South Street and the First alley south of Monroe Street from Carroll Street. to Columbia Street as follows, to -wit: Said alleys shall be graded and the roadway thereof shall be paved; and'also the roadway mf certain portions of the streets and alleys which enter or intersect said alleys shall be' graded and paved.
