Parry St. This bill represents a petition to rezone a property for an automotive repair shop. The property currently residential would need to be community business. Opposition to the petition came from several sources. First Jitin Cain said the City's economic development plan has this area staged for considerable residential investment over the next few years. Christa Nayder reported that the petition received an unfavorable recommendation form the APC saying they wanted the area to be reserved for residential. Two nearby residents asked that commercial zoning not be allowed. Discussion however was far from over or one sided. Some argued against what was characterized as "spot zoning." Others such as Oliver and Henry Davis thought the Council should be flexible. The rationale being we should encourage business start-ups. During discussion the petitioner claimed no one form the City helped with the process. Seemingly at an impasse, Scott Ford, the City's director of Economic Development stepped forward to suggest he meet with the petitioner to devise a possible win -win plan. Based on that offer David Varner motioned to continue consideration until the July 9th meeting. Gavin Ferlic seconded the motion and all affirmed. There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, Chairperson Oliver Annexation Committee at 4:46 p.m.
