Mr. Z. Thilmax , plumber appeared before the Board in regard to
being unable to locate sewer tap at 423 South Nilliam Street. The Board instructed
the Street Commissioner to see if his department could locate sewer tap at this
address and if Ao tam ,is. 'thee J40 put one

City C4metery Sexton filed financial -report of the month of September
1918. Same read and placed on file.
The City Engineer filed estimated cost of grade, curb and walk on
east side of Brookfield Street from California Street to the first alley north
of Brookfield Street at.....................$450.00
Pole and wire inspector reported as follows on compkniant about
telephone pole ar rear of 326 W. Nasarre Street being broke off at and of,pole
near grouald.
This is a Home Tel. Co. pole and.this pole should be removed entirely
the wires should be placed on the pole across the alley. The pole across the alley
is the Indiana & Michigan Light Co. pole which was ordered reset to the south
west about 3 to 5 feet. The order to remove this light pole was given about two
months ago. The pole has not yet been removed. No action taken on same.
The following c ommunicat ion received by W. D. Teeple Building
Commissioner from City Attorney T. W. Slick referred to the Board read and placed
on file.

Dear Sir :- In re Taggart Transfer Co.,
I herewith enclose -letters and report in reference tothe moving
of a building for Mrs. Nevins by the Taggart Transfer Company. In connection with
this matter I herewIth report to your department and to the Board of Public Works
that I have made an invest igat ion of this matter and find that the statments made
in your report are correct.
The Taggart Freight and Transfer Co., is not owned or operated by
Mr. Taggart, but has been owned and operated by A. M. Russell and John. Russell for
a number of years past. Mr. John Russell being the manager..I called Mr. John
Russell to my office and explained the matter to him, and he assured me and con-
vinced me that he did not know that it was necessary to obtain a permit to move
a small building as this was moved on a dray.
He informed me that.the building was loaded on one of the
companys drays and that be personally saw that the dray did not interfere with
traffic and that be moved this building without any damage to the City or to anyone
else. He also assured me that in the future the company would make every effort
to comply with the rules and ordinances of the City and of all departments.
Under the circumstances therefor I recommend that no prosecution
be nstituted.

Herewith attached please note clipping from South Bond News -Times of this
same date,
sign in question Is a0priximately 101 X 31, projecting, combination wood
and metal,, not electric, weight estimated at about 175 lbs.
About two weeks ago it was lowwred for repainting, Kale & Bryan had the
contract for t h is work. Mr. I Manzi was in a hurry to have sign remounted and the a on -
,tractors were short of men, so Mr. Mann took two of the contractorle men and undertook
the work or remounting himself.
No permit was taken, and non* is required, for this sort of work,, although
this department should have been notified so that inspection could be made of con-
struction. This was not done,, and �,this,departmart, had no information of the work being
d one.
In doing the work,, -the old -anchor belts were removed, and new expansion
bolts substituted. These were evidently not properly set.,
-'ign was not much damaged by its fall. It is now in rear room at above
number, and it is intended to reset it sometime to -day. However Kale & Bryan have full
charge of the work this time,, and through -bolts will be used. Department will also
be,
notified in time toinspect, work, which is designed to be in full accordance with
