Petition received read and.placed on file for a grade, curb and walk
on West Dubail Avenue from Kemble Avenue to Prairie Avenue.
The Board of Public Works decided to have kdyor F. R. Carson go to
Washington, D. C. to p�&,ce J'he matter of the paving of Portage Avenue before the
proper committee of the Highway Council to obtain favorable action by the Committee
for the release of sufficient materials to complete this improvement this year, and
the Board allowed an expense of $200.00 to cover this trip..
Mr.- Kelsey appeared before the Board and presented a Flat of the Replat
of Lots 17,18 and 19 and Sub. Division of Out Lot "A." in Henry Leer s Sub. of the
West part of Lot #4 in the partition ion of the estate of Samuel Leer in Section 18 in
Township 37 N. R.. 3 East. Same approved by the Board.
The following bond and contract was approved by the Board for the
installing of radiation and pipe covering the police station.
CONTRACT.
AGREEMENT between the Board of Public. Worts of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, and Wm. H. Burke of the City of South Bend, Indiana, For.the installing of
radiation and pipe covering in the police garage and detective office in the City- Hall
as per specifications and according to bid filed September 9th. ,1918 as follows:

All work to becompleted within five weeks from date of this contract
contingent upon conditions beyond our control.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That we Wm. H. Burke of the County of
St. Joseph State of Indiana, as principal and Jno. E. Fisher of the County of St.
Joseph and State of Indiana as sureties, are held and firmly bound tto the City of
South Bend, Indiana, in the sum of One Thousand ($1,000.00)Dollars For the payment
of which, well and truly to be made, we jointly and severally bind ourselves, our
heirs, executors, adminstrators and assigns , firmly by these presents.
The conditions of the obligation are such that if the above named
Wm. H. Burke shall faithfully comply with the foregoing contract, .made and entered
into the 24th. , day of September 1918 with the City of South Bend, Indiana, and shall
fulfill all the a and it ions and at ipul at ions therein c oat aired, according to the true
intent and meaning thereof, in all respects, then this obligation .to be void, otherwise
to be and remain in full force and virtue in law. In the event the said City shall
extend the time for the completion of said work, such extension shall not in any way
release the sureties on this bond.
This shall be A construction bond, and the sureties on the same
shall not be held responsible for the faithful compliance with all other cond it ions
stipulations and requirements covered by or set out in the contract.

The Pole and wire inspector reported on complaint about pole, as follows: -
One pole has been removed from the Pol ieeand fire Alarm,: wires inthe alley north of
Broadway Street east of Fellow Street leaving a span without a pole for 215 feet.
I wish permission to resettt two poles in this alley both poles nn the west did* of the
alley.
This was one pole standing in this alley which was removed entirely
which leaves this long space between poles. Thomas Beaningin, Pole and Wire Inspector.

them subsetibe or give the reason why.
You will instruct the solicitor you appoint to take the name, address
and occupation of all employees who are unable to subscribed and state carefully
their reason.
