The Board ordered that the City Contractor be notified to
construct curb and walk a,t southwest corner of Dunham Street and Pulaski Street.
The following resolution was approved by the Board.
RE S 0 L U T ION,
It was unanimously decided by the. Board of Public works, that
resolution No, 584 for water connections on Portage Avenue between alley north of
Kinyon Street and CityLimits,.be modified as recommended by the City Superintendent
.of water Works.under date of August 28th.,1918, the same to read as follows: -
That all water taps to be put in on Portage Avenue under Improvement
,.Resolution No. 584 to be One ( 1" ) inch tap and One (1) Q " tap, the number and kind
of -tap to be installed are shown by red inlet on said resolution.

Board met in regular session at 10:00 A. M. All members present.
The City Engineer -submitted the list of property owners in the mitten
of the appropriation of certain property under Condemnation Resolution No. 51 for the
Widening of Oakland Street from St. Joseph River is Mishawaka Avenue as per resolution
on page 220 of this record, which list includes the names of the owners and holder, of
property and of interests therein sought to be taken or beneficially affected, and the
description of the several pieces of property which is affected by the said appropri-
ation proceedings.
Thereupon the Board proceeded to award the damages sustained and to
assess the benefits accruing to `each piece of property upon said list. It was thereups
upon motion duly made and seconded and unanimously adopted, resolved that said list
together with the a,moun.ts of benefits and damages and net benefits and net damages
therein set forth as to the several parcels of land be adopted and that the respectovve
amount of benefits contained in said list be and are hereby assessed against the
several tracts of land as specifically set forth in said list, and that the respective
amounts of damages contained in the said list be and are hereby awarded to the several
tracts of land as specifically set forth in said list, and that the .net benefits or
net damages., as the case may be as to the respective tracts of land, contained in said
list, are hereby awarded or assessed, as the case may be as to the said several tracts
of land.
1 The Board hereby further sets off the benefits add damages each
against the other where bath benefits and damages are assessed, against -{he same piece 0
property, tract of land or * interest, and hereby fixes said respective bet benefits as
the amount that shall'be paid by the respective owners as benefits, and. further hereby
fixes the respective net damages as,�o the several tracts as the amount that-4hg1l be
paid to the -owners of the respective tracts as damages. 4 °
Thereupon, upon motion duly made and seconded and unanimously adopt-
ed the 23rd. day of October 1918 at 7:15 P.0 was fixed as the day on which this Board
will receives or hear remonstrances from persons with regard to the amount of their

and cause to 'be duly and legally given, notices to the owners of each parcel ff property
showiig the am€�uht of the assessments or award, with a description of the pr'ope►rty

WHEREAS, Mrs. Collie Bolen was: injured by a fall to the sidewalk caused
by stepping in a defect in the sidewalk, which said defect in the sidewalk, was a hole
six (6) inches square and two (2) inches deep and located on the northwest corner of
Street intersection of Miohigan Street and .Jefferson Boulevard in the City of South
Bend, Indiana.
WHEREAS by reason of said fall to the sidewalk said Collie ' Bolen was
severely injured and obliged to receive medical attention �Lnd tether care &mounting to
more than fifty ($50.00) Dollars, and
WH-7REAS she had filed notice of suit alleging that said City of South
Bend to be entirely responsible for said accident.
Therefore now for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty ($50.00)
Dollrs in hand paid by said City of South Bend through its Board of Pu blic Works, said
Collie Bolen hereby releases said City from all her said claims and received said sum
and for all damage to her and for all c la ims that she has in any shape or form against
sa, id. C ity,
WHEREAS Alex Bolen is the hubband of said Collie Bolen hereby
releases a.11 c la ems that he has against said city by reason of the -afore mentioned accident
for the sut of One ( gel. 00 )Dollar in hand paid.
