Board met in regular session at 10: 00 A.M. All members xiresent,
This being the date set for deferred hearing an assessment roll gad
and final -eat imate -for sheet asphalt pavement on Eddy Street and Mishawaka Avenue
from Jefferson Boulevard to center of Nineteenth Strut, under Improvement
Resolution No. 544. In the City of South Bend, Indiana,.
In the above matter a number of property owners appeared but
no written remonstrance 4was filed. The Board therefore find. that the property
assessed ih said roll filed July 6th. , is benef itted - in the amount of assessments
as shown on said rolls, and the Board further find that the assessment rolls filed
July 6th.,1918 and the final estimate allowed July 6th.,1918 should be and the
same are hereby in all things ratified, a onf irmed and approved, and it was ult -
amousy approved by the Board that the City Controller be notified to with -hold
out of funds owing the White Construction Company, the amount of $1,500.00 until
all defects in pavement AW repaired.
Communication received, read and placed, on file in favor of
sidewalk on south Michigan Street.
Petition and remonstrance received read and placed on file for
the grading of Huron Street.
In regard to complaint about pole in alley at rear of 1200
blk. Clover Street. Pole and wire inspector recommends that there are three
Indiana & Michigan Elec. Co. poles in this alley and the poles are in use and
belong there. This alley should be made a 14ft. and graded. It is now Mgt. alley,
This notice.ordered held up.
The following communication received and resolution approved.

Miss Veronica Loring requeste.deed for above lot. Will you kindly
comply tith her request as she believes deed has been left.

R E S 0 L U T I 0 N.
WHEREAS, One Mary Ann,Loring did purchase from the City of South Bend,
Indiana for the consideration of One Dollar the following described property:
Lot 40 Block 2 Range 1 East, in the City Cemeteryof the City of South
Bend, Indiana.
WHEREAS, said Mary Ann Loring decesased having lost said deed, and
Veronica Loring is sole owner of the above described property, has no deed for
said lot now,
BE IF RESOLVED, by the right of Public Works of the said City, that the
Mayor of said City be and is hereby instructed to issue a duplicate deed to said
Veronica S. Loring for said described property.

The Board instructed the Clerk to notify all property owners owning
property on South Michigan Street from Dsnmoyer Avenue to the City limits, to be present
at their . regular session to be held Wednesday July 31st. ,1918 at 7:15 P.M.

Release signed by the Board on Bruno De Peape bond for the pdpe sewer
on Dayton Street for, the Chicago. Bonding Company.
Communication received from H. B. Elliott City Controller of Elkhart,
Indian in regard to cemetery lots. Same referred to the City Cemetery sexton for answer.
It was resolved by the Beard, that the Street Commissioner be ordered
to erect a temporary fence_ in front of. lots 78, 79 and 80 in Sub. D iv is ion Cin River Park
and along the adjoining alley, this being the -land described in a contract executed
on September 17,1917 between Pred Corporan of the City of South Bend, Indiana and the
Board of Public Works of the City of South. Bend, Ind. The.Street Commissioner is ordered
to charge the expense of same against the check on deposit.in the. officeof the Board,
of Public Works , in the City Hall, South Bend, Indiana. Said check being on deposit
for the faithful performance of the contract above described.
The Clerk instructed by the Board to. write to the bonding company
of the Cahill Company bond on Trunk sewer on Michigan Street In regard to bill for W.W.
Sibley putting in sewer tap.
City Engineer reported to the Board that an error had been made by
abstractor in width of late 9.10 and 11 Klingel's Michigan Avenue Addition on Blaine
Avenue. The Board order*d that the property owners on Lot 9,10, and 11 Klingel's Michigan
Avenue Add it ion each !be eaebag iven a rebate An the amount of 1892 each, for the reason
that the recorded plat in the recorder's office shows said lots to be 48.4 feet in width
whereas examination shows that these lots to be 45.4 feet in width. This to be allowed
on each of the lots and to be paid out of the Miscellaneous fund of the Board of Public
Works. Lot No. 9 owned by Wrnest 0. & Ira May Neithardt-, Lot No. 10 by Albert A. C.
& Emma J. Bode and Lot No. 11 by Albert & Solmea Walinski,
The Board ordered that thirty day notices be sent to the following
property owners to _construct or repair defective sidewalks.

Add. located at 535-Lincoln Way West.

of July 1918in the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that this Board will give a

hearing on the amount of such assessments at its office in the City Hail on the
7th.0 day of August 1918 at 7:15 P.M.
Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contract be
accented and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this
resolution shall be published on the 24.th., day of July 1918 and on the 318t., day
of July 1918.in the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that this Board will give a
hearing on the acceptance of such work at its office in ,the City Hall on the 7th. ,
day of July 1918 at 7:15 P.M.
Engineer filed assessment roil and final estimate for grade, curb
and walk on High Street from Bowman Street to Ewing Avenue, under Improvement
Resolution No. 532. In the City of South bend, Indiana.
Resolved, that notices as to assessment required by law, be publsuhed

29th. , day of July 1918, stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount
of such assssments at its office in the City Hall on the 7th.9 day of August 1918
at 7:15 P.M.

pavement on Jefferson Blvd. from Michigan Street to west end of bridge over River,
under Improvement Resolution No. 564. In the City of South Bend, Indiana,
Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments,
be published for six consecutive days in the Suth Bend Daily Tribune, commencing
on the 29th. , day of July 1918 stating that this Board will give a. }year ing on the
amount of such assessment at its office in the City Hall on the 7th. , day of August,
1918at7:15P.M.
Resolved.further, that the entire work under the above contract be
accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this
resolution shall be publ ishegi on the 29th. , day of July 1918 in, the South Bend Daily

The Board ordered that the the Central Union Tel. Co. be
notified to remove pole entirely Wh4ch is in the way of a garage property owner residing
at 1619 Passnacht Avenue and place wires ;on other poles on the south side of the- street.;
The contract for the grading of Miami Street from Ewing Avenue
to the City Limits, was awarded to Geo Hoffman by unanimous consent of the Board at
pr ides „„rece.ived Tuesday July 9th.,1918.
