The Honorable Beard of Public Works, South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen: - I beg to report that I have made an inspection of the pavementen Mishawaka Avenue and Eddy Street., since the completion of the work by the White Construction Company., and finds the work taken as a whale is in good cond it ion. There are a few defects appearing in the brick portion of the pavement as the cement grout is being worn off. These can be taken care of immediately or can be subjected to traffic for a year and then repaired under the guarantee, The gutters of the asphalt pavement between 9th.1# and,i0th.,, Streets and the gutter on the northsideof Mishiwaka Avenue between 6th. St. and the alley west of 6th. , St., should, be put In better. c and it ion than they are at the present time. A small amount of the con"stretcher along the rails shows im- perfections and should be'replaeed. This can only be due properly by diverting the street car traffic so as to permit the concrete .to ,net , otherwise it is my opinion that it will be better to leave the present stretcher in. Respectfully submitted, FREDERICK J. ANDERSON, City Epg;iuee3r. President.
