Mr. Frederick J. Anderson, City Civil Engineer and Mr. D. C. Layton, Street Commissioner were authorized to attend the Municipal League Convention to be held at Washington , Ind ianarepresenting the City of South Bend, and they were also ordered to keep an account of their expenses during the convention. and the Board to reimburse them on the presentation of &UiniaddFstatement. i Contract for water connections on B li ine Avenue from Lincoln Way West to Portage Avenue awarded -to Wm. H. Burke Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for asphaltic concrete pavement on Blaine Avenue from La Porte Avenue'to Lincoln Way lest, under Improvement Resolution No. 565 In the City of South Bind, Indiana. `Resolved, that notices °as to the amounts of assessments as required by law be pub 1 ished . f or six c onsec ut ive days in the South Band Daily Tribune a ommenc ing on the 8th , day of July 1918 stating that this Board will g ive a hearing on the amount of such assessments sa,ts its office in the City hall on the 17th. Uy of July 1918 at 7:15 P.M. Resolved further that the entire work under the above contract be accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this resolution shall be published on the ,8th. , day of July 1918 in the South Bend Daily Tr ibuno, stating that this Board will give a hearing on the acceptance of such work at its off ice in the City Hall on -the 17th , day of July 1918 at 7: 15 P.M. Mr. D. C. Layton,Street Commissioner appeared before the Board and took up matter of purbhasing street car tickets for J-oseph Burke, Foreman on Street Dept., to be used in his drily inspect ion .work for the Street Department. The Board ordered Mr. Layton to purchase four books of street car tickets to ba used fd rinvestigation and inspection of City Work. Mr. Layton was also instructed to got price for repair on motorcycle owned*by the City and submit same to the Board' during the Month of July 1918. The Board ordered that the contract for decorating the City Hall as per bids "ce ived June 18th. ,1918 should be held up indefinitely. Chas. E.-Starr City Electrician was instructed to purchase the necessary electr is ial wiring .and fixtures to be put in the detective office in the City Hall Artnex. ,22(. t s Communication received from W. D. Teeple, Acting Building Commissioner requesting a new typewriter in the building department office, The Board approved of an order for $82.50 for one model 5 Underwood Typewriter with old w L. C. Smith typewriter now in the building department office traded in. The same to be paid for, out of the Building Department appropriation. City, Civil Engineer reported on complaint of cement walk not extending out tp curb in front of 2133 Mishawaka Avenue as follows.— This walk in front of this property ,was originally constructed cane- foot ,further Worth than other walks,. adjacent, thus leaving approximately a space one foot wide between new curb line and walk. Ii property owner wishes walk extended to curb, would recam- mend that Mr.-H. N. Barnes do this on his various street contrast and the cost assessed against property. F. J. ANDERSON, City Engineer. The above report of the'City Engineer was approved by the Board. Engineer filed 37arb and walk on High Street from Bowman Store-;,, t_o Ding t.venus #tH. L. Communication received from the Chicago, South Bend & Northern Indiana Railway Company in regard to-moticc sent to have pole at Jefferson and Lincoln Way East.reset,.repamted that pole had been reset and as soon as concrete set -wires would be transferred.
