By Uftn imous consent of the Board it was doe ided to have the ,Lnter for of the City Hall painted., and the Clerk was instructed to notify by letter all painters and decorators sending a'copy of the following specifications: Bids for the same to be received up to 10; 00 A.M. All oak window s ills to be cleaned and ref inished to match old f finish. The dead for the conveyance of property of the Standard Oil Company to the City of South Bend, Indiana located at the S. E. Corner of Lincoln Way`West and Taylor -Street was taken up by the Board and the blue print submitted by the City Engineer was approved and the following communication sent to the Standard Oil Company for action by the City Chicago office. - Standard Oil Company South Bend,, Ind iana . Gu ilf oyle Gent lemen: - In consideration of the Standard Oil Company conveying to the City of South Bend by a proper deed the following described property situated on the southeast corner of Lincoln Way West and Taylor Street in 'the City of South Bend: Beginning at a point on the west line of lot 13 of Rebecca Studebaker's Sub -Division of Bank Out Lot No. 3 thirty (30) feet south of the northwest corner of said lot thirteen (13), thence north thirty feet (30) to the northwest corner of said lot thence south. easterly along the northerly line of said lot thirteen (13) twenty (20) Feet thence southerly on .a curve of thirty three (33) foot radius to the place of beginning. The City of South Bend agrees to enlarge the street intersection and install pavement, side walk and curb as shown by the blue print which is herewith attached and made a part of this communication, and to pay all costs indid.ental to installing new pavement and building sidewalk and curb. June 8m1918. The Board of Public Works, City Hall, South Band, Indiana. Gentlemen: - This is to acknowledge, with thanks, your acceptance of our recent pro- posal for the chemical testing and inspection of the asphalt paving awarded in your City during 1918, on the basis of two and one-half (*) cents per square yard for asphaltic concrete paving and three (3) cents per square yard for Sheet Asphalt paving. The character of our service to you in the future will be similar, in every respect, to that rendered inthe past. Kindly advise us, a day or two in advancem when Contractors expect -to start their asphalt plant on the near work, to enable the writer to be there in person, together with the inspector and his testing apparatus. Teeple Acting Commissioner of Buildings appeared before the Board and reported verbally on Notice sent to 1. C. Hastings on condemnation of building and also Notice sent to Chas B. Greene in regard to wail on building at 425 So. St. Joseph Street. Also communication from United States Fuel Administra. t ion, Oil Division at Wash. D. C. stating that request for 155 tons Tr in i"d- far Blaine Avenue and Harvey Street this, City .would not be delivered. Mr. D. C. Layton, Street Commissioner met with the Board and discussed Matter of paving with brick the approach to the Police garage. The Board after due consideration of paving same with brick, instructed the City Engineer to submit prices for other type of pavement for said �appraabh. The f ollrna ing .deed approved by the Board as shown on page 211 of this rec erd and ordered placed on record. THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH:- That the Standard Oil Company , an Indiana c or nortt ion, conveys and quits-c la ins to the City of South -Bend, a Municipal Cprporat ions of the State of Indiana, for th sum of One Dollar, the following described real estate, to merit: Beginning at a point on the west® line of Lot Thirteen (13) of Rebecca- Studebaker's SubD iv is ion of Bank Out Lot Number Three (3), thirty (30) feet south ,of the northwest corner of said Lot Thirteen (13) thence north thirty (30) feet to th- northwest corner of sadd lot; thence southeasterly along the northerly line of said lot thirteen (13 ); twenty (20) feet; thence southerly on a curve of thirty three (33) foot convex to the northwest to the place of beginning. in the City or South Bend, County bf St. Joseph and State of Indiana, to be used For .street purposes. If the said premises shall hereafter cases to be used for street purposes, then this a onveyan ee shall be come and be hull and void, and all the right title and interest sha �1 thereupon, without notice, revert to the grantor, its successors and assigns.
