Bid of Alex H. Croutzberg. Will recover Frames of awnings at $7.50 each. out of Brown and whit*,, same to be aceeoted in weak or ten days. Reduction for putting up until awnings are hung. B id of South Bend Aug Company. We propose to reeevtr the 8 awning frames which mead ,recovering for $ 5.25 each using same stripe as formerly. We further propose recovering and properly Fitting the 8 awnings for 6.40 each. We make this second proposal as the awnings as made are not right and do not give the protection for which they are intended. Will rehang other awnings for $.25 each. We .propose to remodel and recover with same material as Former cover on all windows having a transom and run Frame above transom For $7. 00 The above lo► id is amended. South Bend Awhing Company, R.C.T. The Board awarded the contract to the South Bend Awning Company at the above price, the Janitior is the City Hall to see that those awnings are of the same material ,and that same are properly hung and have the bill o. k. by janitor before bill for same is rendered .to Board for payment. Petition roe e ived far narrowing Bartlett Street from curb to curb 5 foot. Slame referred to the City Engineer For report. Street Commissioner D. C. Layton reported to the Beard of the condition of sower from roots of trees, at the Corner of Notre Dame Avenue and Washington Avenue. The Board ord_ red the Street Commissioner to notify property owners to remove treess at once. Petition received for asphalt pavement on Bartlett Street From Michigan Street to Lafayette Street. The same read and referred to the City Engineer for a r e port-. Communication received and read and placed on file from J. R. Jackson Roc . Secretary of the South Bend Building Trades Council, in regard to City to use union labor on City Hall remodeling. The Pole and Wire inspector reported on the Following complaints. Indiana & Michigan Elea. Co., ordered to move pole seven (7) foot which is in the way of garage building at 451 Lincoln Way East. South Bend Home Tel. Company notified to reset pole owned by their company -and used jointly by jrheir company with the Indiana & Michigan Elea. Co. at 451 Lincoln Way East. Central Union Tel. Company instructed to move guy wire which stands in the way of garage doorway at 817 So. Chapin Street, as there is onw more pone to the north of this guy wire which will hold the line in position alright by placing the guy wire at the next pole to the north. Also pelt which is in way of building of garage at 332-334 So. Taylor Street at corner of Division Street ordered removed to the north to the dividing line between the two sots. Street Commissioner reported on petition an repairing of South Mich. Street -pavement. To the Hon. Board of Public Works, Gent lemen:- I have personally investigated the attached request; The Street Dept., is not equipped nor has it a fund sufficient to rebuild a street. It would mean to thoroughly scarify the old stone and add 5 or 6 carload of -large stone, thoroughly rolled then add small stone and dust to fill voids and rolled again then a carpet coat of asphalt oil and sand, ( Would recommend just filling ruts this year.) As for road oil non can be obtained Tke rebuilding of South Michigan Street could not end of Pairviaw Street as petition reads, Very respectfully, D. C. LAYTON,Street Commissioner. Mellott in regard to garbage-oontract, which was addressed to his. v The following report was presented by the City Engineer, read and placed on file, the Beard ordering said petition -to be brought up later after they find 'out if they can get money for Intersections. Gentlemen:- . in regard to the attached petition for a pavement an Dayton Street, I wish to report that there are approgim:ately thirty resident freeholders on the street of whem eighteen have signed the petition for the pavement. Respectfully submitted, FREDERICK J. ANDERSON, City Engineer. Bill of Wm.. F.-Wagner filed with the Board for C ity's share of installing sewer connection at 744 Gleveland Avenue presented to the Board with bill due Harvey Striebel on said connection. The Board instructed Harvey Streibel to pay his share, and ordered that the bill for City's share should be placed on file. The following resolution for adopted by the Board. TRUNK SEWER D[PROVEMENT RESOLUTION No. 573. RESOLVED By the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bead, County. ef'St.'Joseph# State of Indiana: That it is desired and deemed necessary to con- struct a sewer in Madison Street from Eddy Street to the let. alley east of Walsh Street and in Sommers Street, from Madison Street to Cedar Street and In Cedar Street* from the first alley east of;Eddy Street to the first alley east of Walsh Street all In said City, which, from its size and character, is only intended andedapted for use by property owners whose property abuts along the line of 'said sewer, but is also intended and adapted for receiving seweage from collateral drains already con= structed or which may be hereafter constructed, and the same is hereby ordered con- structed isle and along the following line in said City, to -wit: Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of Madison Street and the east line of Eddy Street; thence east OR the center line of Madson Street to the center lin of Sommers Street with a 30 inch circular sewer; thence Still east on the center line of Madison Street to the venter line of Arthur Street with a 24 inch circular sewer; thence still east on the center line of Madison Street to the first alley east of Walsh Street with an 18 inch circular sewer. Also: Beginning at the intersection.of the centerline of Madison Street and Sommers Street; thence north on the center line of Sommers Street to the center line of Cedar Street with a 24 inch circular sewer; thence east on the ee&ter linq of Cedar Street to the center line of Walsh Street With a 24 inch cir- cular sewer; thence still east on the center line of Cedar Street.to the first alley eat -of Walsh Street with a _20 inch circular sewer. Notice of this resolution shall be published on the day of and on the day of 1918s in the South Bend Daily Tribune.
