Hearing ,had on improvement .resolution No. 566 for the Grade, curb
and walk-on Ernsperger-Street . from Lincoln tray East to the Bridge over the St. Joseph
R iver, it the C ity of S outh Bend, Ind iana.
Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no written resmn--
strance .44s filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, ,dec ides that the
benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the ;esti-
mated cost of the same, as .reported by the City C iv it Eng inee;, and thereupon takes.
final action on said resolution as or ig inally adopted, and the same is hereby in all
things ra t if ie d , confirmed and .approved .
Resolved further, that notices be published on the 21st., day
of March 19i8 :and on the 28th. , day of Uarch* 1918 in .a newspaper of general circulation
in said City, s tat ing that this Board will receive bids for the construct ion of said
impr ove m.ents =up to 10:. 00 A.U. on the 9th. , day of April 1918. The Board 'reserves the
r i;ht to reject any and all bids
v It was unaulmoualy decided by the Board that an advertisement
be inserted 'in the local papers as required by law, advertising for bids on different
types of rollers, the same to be as per spec if icat ions to be submitted by the City
C iv it Engineer. `
The following resolution was adopted by the Board.
LIZ RES OLUT ION FOR SERVICE CONNECTIONS WITH MAINS
N0. 91:2. S%
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works on the 5th., day of February 1918
did adopt a resolution order img and `requiring th& permanent improvement of Blaine Avenue
from Li Porte Avenue to Lincoln Wi:y West- Street, by paving the roadway of the same, and
WHEREAS, the City Civil Engineer has prepared and f ildd in the Office
of this Board a report showing the n#mber and location of the service pipes, mains,
conduits, literals,, -and connections ghich are, or will be necessary to accommodate the.
abutting property and the owners thereof -Frith gas, water, sewer and ether conveniences
and necessaries; and also said City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in said office
apec'ifications showing the material to, be used and the manner of -laying said service pipe,
meind conduits, laterals and connections from the mains to the points .inside of then
curb lines.
_ THEREFORE, be 1t resolved by the Board of Pubic Works of the City
of South mend, Indiana, that the report of the City Civil Engineer is adopted, and said
report and. -the specifications prepared and filed by him are made a part of this resolu-
tion as fully and effectually as if copied herein at full length and it is further
ordered that all of such private connections with the ,sewer, gas and water mains, be made
in said street by bringing them inside the curb lines thereof.
And be It Further resolved that notice by publication for two
successive days in the South Bend Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation printed
and pub 1 ished in the City of South Bead, Indiana, be given to the owkiers of the property
abutting upon said street to be improved directing them to make such sewer and water con
nett ions on or before the llth. , day of April 1918 and that if said - cnnect ions are net
made on or before said time and in ace: ordance with the specifications and report on file
in the office of the Board. of Public Works, then -said Beard- Ill cause the same to be made
and will assess the cost thereof against the property abutting upon said street, and
shall do all other things pertaining thereto according to the prov is ions and requirements
of Ordinance No. 1842 adopted by the Common Counc ,.1 of the City of South Bend on July 24th. ,
1916, and of all ordinances and laws, relat ing ..thereto. -
And, be it further resolved and ordered that :after the 20 day period has
elapsed for the making of said connections by the property owners , a notice; shall be
pubii had for two weeks, once each yeek, in the South Bend Tribune, ai- newspaper ff General
circulation published in said City, regVesting bids from the contractors for the making
of such connections as have not been made by the property owners, and such notice shall
fix a day, not earlier than ten days after the. first of. such publications, when bids shall
be opened and a contract let for the doing of said work.
And Be It, Further orderedthat the Northern' Indianan Gas and Electr 1c
Company, which holds a franchise from
,
and empowered by said City to furnish
a,rtif ical gas to the citizens thereof,
and is engaged in said business in said
City, is hereby directed to'make and install
all service connections with its mains
in said street in accordance with the
prov
is ions of Ordinance No. 15559 adopted
June 27th. , 19100 and suchother ordinances or lams applicable theret"o which
connections are shown upon the report
of
the City Civil Engineer, snd which are
hereby declared to be necessary in
supplying
gaga to the owners of property abutting
upon said street. ;
