Committee Chair John Voorde called to order the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee
meeting at 4:20 p.m. He introduced members and announced the lack of a quorum, rendering the
Committee incapable of taking official action on legislation. He then gave the floor to the
presenters.
Bill No. 01-19-Alley Vacation-North/South Alley North of Bryan St., South of Culver St.,
to First East/West Alley
Willie Rogers, 1033 West Bryan Street, stated, I'm asking for this because I need somewhere to
park my vehicle. I have$90,000 in two (2) vehicles. The street is so narrow that two (2) cars can't
come down at the same time. Once in a while we have people coming through cutting tires and
breaking our windows. It will be a lot safer for me if I get this property and turn it into a parking
space for my vehicle.
Committee Chair Voorde asked, Have the other departments signed off on this?
Mr. Rogers replied, I'm not sure but I have to come back for the 7:00 p.m. meeting also.
Councilmember Gavin Ferlic asked, Does anyone else use the alley? Is it a connector?
Mr. Roger replied, No. It is overgrown. No one else, to my knowledge, needs it or uses it. I've
been cutting the grass on it for the last twenty-two (22) years, but it's not my property, but no one
else takes care of it.
Councilmember Ferlic stated, We will touch base with Public Works before the evening meeting.

Due to the lack of quorum, Bill No. 01-19 was sent to the full Council with no recommendation.
With no further business, Committee Chair Voorde adjourned the Public Works and Property
Vacation Committee meeting at 4:24 p.m.
