92 <br />v <br />Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. All members present. <br />Mr. Higgins representing the Burroughs Adding machine Company appeared <br />before the ,Board in regard to selling a new machine for the office of the Board. No <br />action taken. <br />TheBoard ordered that one Underwood Typewriter at the price submitted <br />in bid of Wednesday January 16th: ,1918 be placed in the Mayor' a office. <br />Mr. Harry N. Barnes appeared before the Board and presented the <br />following communication from The National Company iu regard to grading on Portage <br />Avenue, same read and placed on file. <br />January 22nd.1918, <br />Board of Public Works, <br />South Bend,, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: - ' <br />!� We, will accept as complete the grading on Portage Avenue, as performed <br />by H..N. Barnes covering that portion.of the Street where the Portage Avenue Trunk <br />sewer has already been installed by us, <br />Very truly yours, <br />THE N TIONAL COMPANY., <br />by GEO. A. Notice of this resolu- <br />tion shall be published on the 28th. day -of January 1918 in the South Bend Daily <br />Tribune, stating thatthis Board will give a hearing on the acceptance of such work <br />at its office in the City Hall on the 6tht day of February 1918 at 7:15 P.M. <br />v The following ordere* was unanimously adopted by the Board. <br />The Board is of the opinion owing to the lack of need for the Assistant <br />City Electrician that the position of same be eliminated,, and it is further ordered <br />that Ur. 0. Davis now assistant electrician should hold over until February 1st., <br />1918. <br />Renewal certificate on Bond No. 251050-14 in the sum of Twenty five <br />Thousand ($25,000.00)Dollare filed by the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company as <br />principal and United States Fidelity and Gunaranty Company as sureties was received <br />and filed by the Board. <br />Petition received read and placed on file for an electric light at the <br />corny of.Kendall Street and Orchard Street. <br />Petition received for light at north ends of Fulton Court and Hamden <br />Court where alley intersects. The Board ordered one 80 C.P. Lamp placed at Fulton <br />Court where alley intersects. <br />V Petitions filed with the Board for pipe sewer and grade on Division <br />Street from Olive Street to Kentucky Street. Ur. S. M. Robinson appeared before the <br />Board in regard to action on same. Board deferred action on said petit ions until <br />Tuesday January 29th, ,1918 at 10: 00 A. M, <br />v Cormunieation received read and placed on file from L. G. Cuuter in <br />Assistant City Engineer in regard to increase in salary. No action taken on same. <br />
