The following appeal to the Board of Public Works from the Commissioner
on Janes - v 1 •
Of Buildings order , in regard to c ondemnat ion of building at h St Joseph
Street which was filed by Ur. Charles B. Greene part owner,«was taleh mior consideration
and discussed with Ur. Greene and an extension of thirty (30) days granted on same. Board
ordered Mr. Charles Greene to place a brace at alley.wall and front wall of said
building for protection of public,
To the Board of Public Works,
of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
The undersigned hereby appeals from an order made by the Commissioner
of Buildings of the City of South Bend, Indiana, which order was made by said Commissioner
less than twenty four hours before the filing of this appeal, and the undersigned states
that he is the owner of a one-half interest in fee s im=31e of Lot No. Four (4) Taylor
Field, an add it ion to the City of South Bend, Indiana , also known as No. 413-415 So. St.
Joseph Street in said City of South Bend.
That said Commissioner of Buildings ordered and directed the owners of
said building to tear down and remove the walls of the building, which building ,was
recently destroyed by fire, This appellant states that he has had the walls of said
building inspected by an expert Builder and that said walls are all substantial, and
that it is a needless waste to require the same to be .destroyed. That if this Board
should decide that there is any portion of the same is unsafe, the owners are willing
and ready to remove the same or safeguard the same, b4t that the order made by the
Commissioner of Buildings ought to be set aside.
Wherefore, this Appellant prays that said order so made by said
Commissioner be in all things vacated,
