Rice absent. permit:- The Beard granted the Studebaker Corporation of America the following R E S O t U T I 0 N. By resolution of the Board of Public Works the Studebaker •/v Corporation of American is hereby given permission to arbas Sample Street at a polxt about 800 feet east of Prairie Avenue for the purpose of laying a line of pipe across said street. This street to be closed temporarily for rive (5) days. Necessary p,-rmits tobe given on -f illAg:z of excavatt ien badds. Work_ to be done under `the supervision of the C ity � C ivil Engineer. Attorney Vm, A. McInery representing the White Construction Company; appeared before the Board in regard to payment for mortar cushion under brick pavement along street car tracks on Eddy Street and Mishawaka Avenue from Jefferson Street to l9th. , Street, this City . The Board approved of the -following. resolution: RESOLUTION. The Beard having under consideration a claim of the White Construction Company for an allowance for extra work in the nature of a mortar cushion under the brick pavement on Eddy Street and Mishawaka Avenue under Improvement Resolution and, The Board having been advised that such extra Mork was done at the instance of the Board of Public Works through its City -Engineer, and, The City Attorney having filed with this Board his opinion that such mortar cushion was not required under the plans and specifications covering said improvement and, The City Engineer having filed with the Board its report shoving - that said mortar cushion was so used under 3,628.4 sq. yds. of brick paving and, This Board having heretofore assumed the added expense_ incident to the - use of said mortar cushion conditions -upon an interpretation of said plans and specifications by said City Attorney. v Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend that an allowance to the. White Construction Company be and the same is hereby made in the sum of $362.84 Dollars in full settlement of said extra work and that the same to be paid out of the Street Intersections fund and be a charge against said City of.South Bend, Indiana. • BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS. " Hearing had on assessment roll and final estim.--te for pipe sewer on Leer Street -from Calvert Street to Ewing Avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. '526. In*the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no written remon- strance was`filed. The Beard therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed 'December 19th.,1917 is -benefitted in the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls, and the Board further find that the assessment roll filed December 19t.h. ,1917 and the final estimate allowed December 19th. ,1917 should be and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved, The Board ordered thgt the Indians & Michigan Elea. Compe.ny be notified to ,place the following lights: Are `light at corner of Haney Avenue and Rush Street. Are light at corner of Haney'Avenue and High Street. Are light at Dubail Avenue and Nigh Street. Are light at Ewing Avenue and High Street. ' Petition for a light at Napier Street and Cherry Street, rejected. •80 C.
