Bids on street lighting in River Park, this City was discussed by the
the Board ' and . afte due c ow iderat ion, of all :b ids received, the Board renewed contract
with the Welsbach Street- Light ing Company -of America, for a, period of Five (5) years
on ten year prices. Type of lamp to be No. 62 Boulevard lamp as Ter bids submitted

requested by this Board to draw up proper contract for same and submit same to the

The contract for lighting River ,Park, this City was approved by
the Board and referred to the Common Council their ratification: -
A G R E E M E N T
THIS AGREELENT, Bade this 23rd. day of April .1917 by and between.
the City of South Bend, Indiana, by and thourhg its Board of Public marks, party df the
first part, and the Welsbach Street Lighting Company . of America, a corporation, party
of the second part, WITNESSETH:--
That the parties hereto, for and in consideration of their mutual
promises and agremenents hereinafter contained, do, for themselves, their successors and
assigns, agree and_ bind themselves, as follows: -
That the party of the second part agrees to furnish to the party of
the first part improved Welsbach Street Lights along the mains of gas company as they
now exist, or may be extended during the term of this agreement, in that part of the
City of South Bend, Indiana known as River Park , and the party of the second part
agrees to mainia-in the same in aceordance with the agreements herein contained for the
period of five years commencing May 1,1918, and ending at Midnight on April 3Q.1923.
EQUIPMENT AND SERVICE.
The party of the second part further agrees to furnish and erect,
at its own cost and expense, and at such points and plae'es as may be designated by the
Board. of Public Works of said City, first-class iron lamp posts and boulevard lights,
equipped with the improved attachments for the Welsbach System of Street lighting.. The
lights to be furnished for and used upon Mishawaka Avenue, and furnished by the party of
the second part shall be No. 62 Boulevard lamp with the round Alba Globe. And the party
of the second pert further'agrees to furnish, at its own cost and expense, all 61luminant
mantles Prod material necessary for properly lighting, extinguishing, cleaning and
repairing said lamps and equipement.
