RESOLUTION NO. 4668-18
A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE SOUTH BEND EASTSIDE YOUTH AND SOFTBALL
TWELVE (12) YEAR OLDS FOR MAKING IT TO THE 2018 WORLD SERIES PLACING FOURTH
(4TH) PLACE IN THE BABE RUTH WORLD SERIES.
Whereas, the South Bend East Side 12U All Star Softball team's record the entire All-Star Season was
sixteen(16)- four(4); and,
Whereas,East Side dominated in state competition playing six (6) games and outscoring their
opponents seventy-four(74)- one(1). East Side's lights-out pitching was led by Savannah Hamilton who
pitched against twenty-four(24)batters throwing one-hundred two (102)pitches, seventy-five(75) of which
were strikes. Other pitchers Kadence Brumitt, Jessica Cleveland, Taylor Kinkade and Allie Miltenberger
combined to face forty-six (46) batters throwing a total of one-hundred fifty-two (152)pitches, eighty-two (82)
of which were strikes; and,
Whereas, East Side earned second (2°1)place in the Regional Tournament and was invited to play at the
Babe Ruth World Series in Treasure Coast, Florida. To participate in the World Series, Eastside had twenty(20)
days to raise funds to help cover travel expenses. With the help and support from their parents and sixteen(16)
sponsorships from the South Bend community, the team was able to raise nearly$7,000.00; and,
Whereas, East Side beat both the Regional Champion, Jeffersontown, and the 2017/2018 World Series
Champion Patterson in the first (1St) two (2) games of the World Series tournament. East Side had only one (1)
tournament loss going into the semi-final of the World Series and would end up claiming fourth (4th)place in the
Babe Ruth World Series; The members of the East Side Softball Team include:

Section I. On behalf of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and as elected Members of the
South Bend Common Council,,we are pleased to publicly recognize and congratulate the South Bend East Side
12U Softball Team's achievements.
Section II. Congratulations to the South Bend East Side 12U Softball Team. We wish you more success
in the coming years.

Section III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the South Bend
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
