Agenda: Bill No. 14 -12 — Procedure for Citizen Appointments
Bill No. 14 -12 is designed to enhance communication between the Council and citizen
appointments they have made to various boards and commissions. In addition to
formalizing the appointment process itself, the bill requires that appointees file quarterly
reports to the Council on items important to the City.
Oliver Davis, the bills, primary sponsor, spoke briefly about the Council's need to be
informed. Karen White said the bill should enhance communication. Henry Davis, a co-
sponsor, suggested a form or process of removal of appointees needs to be prescribed.
Derek Dieter said he would instruct the council attorney to address that process.
David Varner motioned forwarding favorably. Karen White offered a second and it was
supported by all.
Under miscellaneous, Henry Davis reported that the Redevelopment Commission voted
to change the Tuesday meetings time from the afternoon to 9:30 in the morning. He said
he and Dr. Varner voted against the change feeling it made public participation more
difficult. President Dieter said he would have a letter expressing that opinion sent to the
Commission.
There being no further business to come before the committee at this time, Chairperson
Derek Dieter adjourned the meeting at 4:10 p.m.
