RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND
co REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION COMMENDING AND
THANKING MAYOR ROGER O. PARENT FOR HIS
LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT OF REDEVELOPMENT
ACTIVITIES IN SOUTH BEND
WHEREAS, many people express concern about urban problems and
their impact upon the community; and
WHEREAS, some people demonstrate their concern by personal
involvement in the process of seeking solutions; and
WHEREAS, a very few people are both willing and able to bring a
degree of dedication and leadership that culminates in real
measurable progress enriching the life of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has been fortunate to have been
served by Roger O. Parent as Mayor of the City of South Bend from
1980 -1987; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure the City of South Bend has seen more
than $100,000,000 of private investment in the South Bend Central
Development Area representing nearly 2,000,000 square feet of new
construction or rehabilitation; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Roger O. Parent has shown this leadership and
dedication even when it was not a popular thing to do; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Roger O. Parent has steadfastly represented the
interests of all citizens of South Bend; and
WHEREAS, the quality of life of the residents of South Bend has
improved as a result of the contributions of his time, knowledge,
dedication, good judgement and steadfast efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the South Bend
Redevelopment Commission hereby commends and thanks Mayor Roger O.
Parent for his untiring efforts and support and cooperation given
to the South Bend Redevelopment Commission.
Adopted at a Special Meeting of the South Bend Redevelopment
Commission, held on December 16, 1987 at the Office of the
Commission, 1200 County -City Building, 227 West Jefferson
Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana.
