RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND
REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION COMMENDING AND
THANKING MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMON
COUNCIL FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF REDEVELOPMENT
ACTIVITIES IN SOUTH BEND
WHEREAS, many people express concern about urban problems and
their impact upon the community; and
WHEREAS, some people demonstrate their concern by personal
involvement in the process of seeking solutions; and
WHEREAS, a very few people are both willing and able to bring a
degree of dedication and leadership that culminates in real
measurable progress enriching the life of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has been fortunate to have been
served by Joseph T. Serge, Eugenia Brayboy, Beverlie J. Beck, Ann
Puzzello, Robert G. Taylor, Thomas Zakrzewski, James Barcome, Al
Paszek and John Voorde as members of the South Bend Common Council;
and
WHEREAS, these members of the South Bend Common Council have
shown leadership in making difficult decisions that have ultimately
benefitted South Bend's redevelopment efforts and the city as a
whole; and
WHEREAS, they have shown this leadership in decisions
concerning tax abatement, authorization to apply for grant monies,
support for Development Plans and appropriations for redevelopment
and economic development activities; and
WHEREAS, the members of the South Bend Common Council have
steadfastly represented the interests of all citizens of South
Bend; and
WHEREAS, the quality of life of the residents of South Bend has
improved as a result of the contributions of their time, knowledge,
good judgement and steadfast efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the South Bend
Redevelopment Commission hereby commends and thanks Joseph T.
Serge, Eugenia Brayboy, Beverlie J. Beck, Ann Puzzello, Robert G.
Taylor, Thomas Zakrzewski, James Barcome, Al Paszek and John Voorde
for their support and cooperation.
Adopted at a Special Meeting of the South Bend Redevelopment
Commission, held on December 16, 1987 at the Office of the
Commission, 1200 County -City Building, 227 West Jefferson
Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana.
