Company Overview The Anthem Group is a collection of internationally recognized entities in the hospitality, live entertainment, large-scale event production, experiential marketing, and placemaking industries. The Anthem Group is the parent organization of all Anthem-related properties. Among the marquee companies are, Anthem Marketing and Production, Anthem Strategy, Anthem Innovation and Anthem Hospitality. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Anthem started as Anthem Entertainment, a specialized events firm, that soon grew to encompass business-to-business as well as public-facing programs. Today, The Anthem Group has expanded exponentially from its humble beginnings as a boutique Boston-based events agency to a multi-industry enterprise. This breadth of unique experience has propelled Anthem into activity in over 70 markets across five continents. For more in-depth information on The Anthem Group and all related entities, please see Appendix A. Our Vision The Anthem Group will leverage its expansive background, knowledge and experience as a current and seasoned Food Service Operator within a public park to introduce new and unique large-scale events and locally inspired placemaking initiatives to complement South Bend’s existing cultural, entertainment and activation initiatives. As the chosen Food Service Operator for the City of South Bend’s newly developed public café and outdoor patio, The Anthem Group visualizes producing a focal point for meaningful outdoor events to cultivate the shared goal of establishing Howard Park as a premier neighborhood destination. The Anthem Group proposes a complimentary restaurant and bar, The Riverwalk Bistro and Circa 1865, planned to match the City’s existing arts and entertainment initiatives to drive residents and visitors to the park. In tandem, The Riverwalk Bistro and Circa 1865 establish its collective brand as being South Bend’s signature year-round destination as a contemporary venue with diverse food and beverage offerings and world class programming by providing an attractive and engaging environment. The Riverwalk Bistro is an all ages community hub which boasts locally inspired food and drink offerings for any occasion. Likewise, Circa 1865 Bar & Lounge will grasp the attention of the growing population of young professionals within South Bend through its carefully crafted alcoholic beverage offering while showcasing the beauty of the park through its dual indoor and outdoor seating areas. With an emphasis on community development, The Anthem Group will leverage its familiarity in the placemaking, visual and performing arts and entertainment industries to apply its one-of-a-kind expertise to the park. Moreover, Anthem’s extensive, and global, experience with implementing philanthropic and community-based initiatives in a public space, combined with Anthem’s strong connection with the City of South Bend makes Anthem the ideal candidate. Anthem will successfully engage every park patron as well as attract new audiences from all neighboring communities during the park’s peak and off-peak seasons. Anthem’s staff is highly skilled, expertly trained, and well versed in working in public spaces, atypical facilities and being able to effectively transform from an intimate café and dinner service to full-scale concession operation in a matter of hours. Anthem Hospitality’s award-winning three-tier jobs program, which employs at-risk youth, individuals in recovery and adults transitioning back into the workforce from post-military life or homelessness will be extended to South Bend. By launching its jobs program in Howard Park, Anthem aims to create, build and give back to the public while also developing a strong sense of community surrounding The Riverwalk Bistro and Circa 1865. Through the continuation of Anthem’s very successful and longstanding practice of working directly with local youth organizations and community groups, specifically, Anthem looks to collaborate with South Bend’s “Center for the Homeless’ and “The Miller Vet Center”. Furthermore, The Riverwalk Bistro will provide complimentary meals while facilitating free field trips to the park regularly during the year. Community clean-up days will also be executed in 5 conjunction with the field trips, as well as, with other members of the community to further empower a sense of ownership and pride in South Bend’s new premier park and open space. Each year, The Anthem Group hand selects new ventures, both large and small, to undertake and successfully develop. Through this meticulous process, The Anthem Group ensures that The Riverwalk Bistro, Circa 1865 and public activation of Howard Park will be the company’s top priority and most valued initiative for 2019. The project will be under direct supervision of the company President and Senior Vice President. Anthem President, and esteemed graduate from The University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, Chris Sinclair, holds a strong connection for the City of South Bend that stems from his years of studying at The University. Chris’ love for South Bend and its continued development fuels his desire to be involved in this project and integrate Anthem’s existing services and properties into the local culture and community whenever possible. In the past, Chris has dedicated his time to work with and empower disadvantaged youth in South Bend. He developed the curriculum and taught an entrepreneurship program that provided area high school students with professional opportunities and the skills to launch their own ventures. To this day, Chris continues to mentor the youth of South Bend. Anthem has always incorporated South Bend into its projects on a regular basis. Anthem’s International Music Festival and dozens of Anthem’s experiential marketing campaigns routinely host events or are active in the South Bend market. Most recently, Anthem’s strategic partnership with Indiana Whiskey, inclusive of spearheading its catering in its upcoming facility expansion, is another illustration of Anthem’s ongoing involvement and commitment to the region. Additionally, Anthem seeks to independently propose the execution of two annual large-scale public events in Howard Park: The Fall Fire Festival and a multi-month Winter Village. These productions would be independent of the agreement as the Food Service Operator for Howard Park. To ensure the success of such events, Anthem will leverage its standing as one of the select companies in the nation that has the resources, knowledge and experience to properly and successfully execute installations and events of this scale. All programs and events executed by Anthem will adhere to and be scheduled in accordance with various park and existing community center events in mind. With significant experience and demonstrated history of establishing unique and new events and venues, Anthem will to work in collaboration with Downtown South Bend and other community stakeholders. In tandem, Anthem will curate new concepts but also work with and elevate existing projects to a higher, more refined and larger scope level. With respect to the food and beverage service, Anthem is also uniquely qualified to service large and small crowds alike. Anthem has coordinated the consumer vending and concessions for the past decade to Boston’s world-renowned Independence Day Celebration on The Charles River – and annually services an audience that has reached 1.1 million attendees. To date, Anthem’s portfolio includes over 20,000 events of all shapes and sizes which showcases its second- to-none skill in producing and creating experiences, managing an outdoor venue, while collaborating with public and private partners to make each endeavor a success. It is inherit to Anthem's culture to become as familiar with its patrons as possible. A focal point of team member training encourages all staff to cultivate new and lasting relationships with all patrons. Not only does this make each visitor’s experience more meaningful but the genuine interaction facilitates learning about all the people, businesses and interests that comprise South Bend's DNA - and ensuring that The Riverwalk Bistro and Howard Park are a vital part of the community fabric. In addition to implementing large scale and public events and programs to activate Howard Park, Anthem will also leverage its extensive portfolio, knowledge and aptitude to provide daily artistic and programmatic placemaking throughout the entire calendar year. With leadership’s previous experience managing an outdoor venue and also all-season restaurants, The Riverwalk Bistro will encourage diners to visit year-round to enjoy the patio, lounge, ice rink, interactive water fountains, new amenities and surrounding park space no matter the weather. 6 Anthem will also work in collaboration with art students from the local universities, such as Ivy-Tech's graphic and digital arts program, to establish a temporary art-walk installation throughout the park. This initiative will add a vibrant seasonal element that can remain for as short as a weekend or long as a month, while concurrently strengthening more community ties between The Riverwalk Bistro, Circa 1865 and Howard Park. Proudly boasting an extensive hospitality background in serving a wide variety of audiences – from fine dining to large- scale concessions, the team members of Anthem Hospitality are well versed in working in public spaces, atypical facilities, and being able to efficiently transform from an intimate café and dinner service to sizeable concert concessions in a matter of hours. Each member of Anthem’s team will leverage their unique knowledge and skill set to ensure that Howard Park’s food and beverage service is always capable of exceeding its patrons’ expectations and the venues unique needs. Directly related to the City of South Bend’s vision for Howard Park’s proposed food and beverage operator, Anthem’s aptitude and ability fulfills the unique cross-industry and cross-discipline skill set required to provide exceptional service within a public park. Anthem’s public realm of food and beverage experience can be showcased through its work in Boston’s bustling Seaport District, the continued and growing success of its venue located inside of Boston’s Esplanade Park, and its upcoming outdoor beer garden and venue inside of Faneuil Hall, which is a top tourism destination that is visited on average by 50,000 people daily. Anthem’s existing park venue exclusively provides its event production, marketing, onsite and mobile catering services to all park events, private events or community engagements within its six-mile stretch. In 2017, Anthem launched an expansion of its restaurant venue to include the first-ever execution and operation of a beer garden on Massachusetts state parkland. Anthem has invested roughly $500,000 into its properties to guarantee every piece is successful from initial creation to daily execution and ongoing maintenance to ensure that park patrons’ and Anthem’s standards are exceeded with each visit. The same detailed approach and concern will be implemented in South Bend. Both The Riverwalk Bistro and Circa 1865 Bar & Lounge plan to cultivate new and lasting relationships with the current local food and beverage establishments in South Bend by becoming an active member of the Downtown Dining Association. Through this participation, The Riverwalk Bistro will be able to dynamically engage with local businesses, residents and out of town visitors one-on-one to continue to embrace the essence of all that South Bend offers. By offering a locally inspired menu that is also includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free selections, it ensures anyone who enters The Riverwalk Bistro can find something to enjoy. Optimal performance of the Howard Park project will result only from a seasoned operator with expertise in the multitude of related industries and services required to fulfill the VPA vision. Anthem’s national presence and experience with different municipalities combined with its proven ability to build a community hub through collaboration with local vendors, suppliers, and personnel are indispensable aspects that will lead to the highest level of success. At its restaurant, located within one of Boston’s most affluent neighborhoods, Anthem has been responsible for the upkeep of interior and exterior park space over the past five operating years. All of Anthem’s leadership, field staff, and hospitality team members are universally trained and knowledgeable in providing a consistent external presence, patron hospitality, and internal organization and cleanliness protocols. Anthem has operated similar locations across a multitude of jurisdictions including local municipalities, state government, federal properties, and in multiple states. The Anthem Group will assure that The Riverwalk Bistro and Circa 1865 will consistently adhere to all federal and state regulations and policies. Presently, The Anthem Group is the exclusive food and beverage provider for an urban Boston park that sees approximately 4.5 million visitors annually and the company opening a new operation this fall in a major tourism hub that sees over 25 million annual visitors. Additionally, for over the past ten years, Anthem has been the exclusive holder of all concession and consumer vending rights for one the nation’s most notable events, Boston’s internationally recognized Fourth of July Celebrations, which can see as many as 1.1 million visitors. Anthem’s personnel are professionally trained, developed and highly skilled in maximizing park usage and patron engagement with a hybrid of local residents and tourists. In combination with Anthem’s own in-house marketing agency, Anthem Marketing and by utilizing various mixed media platforms, Anthem employs both traditional and non-traditional marketing, media and advertising mediums. Anthem Marketing has over a decade of experience in brand building for a roster of over 50 clients, as well as a team of experienced graphic artists and creatives. Collectively, Anthem has 600,000 followers across all its social media platforms. Through Anthem’s existing knowledge of the nuances for operating in public spaces, Anthem is well versed in supplying sufficient and detailed reports to the VPA. Anthem’s core philosophy includes having consistent hours all twelve months of the year. This distinguishes The Riverwalk Bistro and Circa 1865 as a reliable source of entertainment and hospitality for regular or new patrons and it keeps the park ecosystem vibrant year-round. The Anthem Group has a demonstrated a history of improving the operating standard of similar public park operations as The City of South Bend envisions for Howard Park. Anthem Hospitality has deep experience maintaining the balance between operating all-ages spaces while responsibly offering the best local beers, wines, and spirits to patrons. Anthem has been awarded various alcohol licenses from various State’s agencies. But even with its breadth of operations and venues, the Anthem Group has never been cited for any permit violations. Anthem looks forward to bringing this kind of responsible permit management to The Riverwalk Bistro in Howard Park, with regular consultation with the Indiana Excise Police. This kind of experience helps with year-round activation. Anthem has successful experience operating an all ages beer garden that welcomes families, children and even pets while providing responsible alcohol services to 21+ patrons. 22 Anthem successfully launched the first execution of a beer garden on state parkland in Massachusetts in 2017 and is now currently in its second operating season. With the Faneuil Hall beer garden and tentative plans for a pop-up beer garden experience in tandem with The Goldenberg Group, in Philadelphia, PA and with the Mariposa Chamber of Commerce, outside of Yosemite National Park – Anthem is uniquely poised to bring its experience to Howard Park. With practice using a multitude of point of sales systems, Anthem’s restaurant actively uses Clover, ShopKeep and Square, and can accept all forms of payment including electronic payments such as Samsung and Apple Pay. Anthem will also explore accepting university meal accounts/point systems for Howard Park. Anthem has successful experience with accepting similar plans for over a dozen local colleges at their existing venue in Boston. In addition to implementing an on-site full-time manager with corporate level authority, The Riverwalk Bistro and Circa 1865 will incorporate a system of team leaders. Likewise, Anthem will regularly deploy a Program Coordinator from its corporate headquarters while using an efficient system of corporate oversight that will report directly to the company President. The Anthem Groups portfolio showcases over 20,000 events including several thousand with food and beverage, and is experienced with working with security, including both private and homeland security. Finally, Anthem has in-house engineers and maintenance personnel for routine upkeep of the venue and surrounding venue areas. As demonstrated, Anthem’s deep experience fully embodies the requirements outlined by the VPA within the “Scope of Services” section. Anthem looks forward to implementing such experience within the Howard Park venue. 23 Our Experience Hospitality Anthem Hospitality is The Anthem Group’s in-house hospitality and full-service catering arm. Anthem has executed events and programs in over 70 markets across five continents with The Anthem International Music Festival (IMF) spearheading its global expansion. Anthem’s annual and multinational music festival holds deep philanthropic roots. The origin and continuous priority of IMF is to help support individuals living with HIV/AIDS and to support the vulnerable left behind children in Sub-Saharan Africa. Each festival raises money and brings awareness for a different youth-focused international organization and/or NGO. The Anthem IMF also works in collaboration with The Musary – a revolutionary instrument lending library that creates accessibility to instruments and instructors to any individual interested. Another one of Anthem’s self-created events, in addition to the International music festival is Anthem’s New England Dessert Showcase (NEDS). NEDS is was annual event that took place in a rotating venue and included more than 20,000 attendees, and hundreds of exhibitors, media outlets, and live chef demos over its existence. Additionally, through the development of Anthem’s own interactive wintertime concept termed “Anthem’s Winter Village”, the Anthem team has been directly involved with all parts of managing an outdoor ice rink including maintenance, design and operation as well as the execution of all related food and beverage concession management. Anthem intends to propose the execution of its ‘Winter Village’ concept in Howard Park each winter to the City of South Bend regardless status if chosen as the food and beverage provider status. 24 Programmatic Placemaking A place isn’t a place without people. Anthem will help make Howard Park a regional parks destination with creative and active community programming. There’s already a great start: Potawatomi Park’s programming during “Best Week Ever”, Rum Village’s Disc Golf competitions, and the Sunburst race. Anthem can build on those successes. The Anthem Group works with municipalities, chambers, tourism bureaus and private developers to conceptualize and execute a variety of programmatic placemaking campaigns. Anthem has initiated over 200 annual activations throughout previous years ranging in location from Boston’s emerging and established neighborhoods to Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and all the way to the West Coast. Within Boston’s Esplanade, Anthem has created a wide variety of daily public programming that accommodates adults and children alike. Anthem’s signature programming includes a weekly Live Jazz and Soul Brunch, Sunrise Yoga, Scavenger Hunts, Paint Parties and a Children’s Educational Series. The diverse program assortment is highly beneficial to the park itself as well as to the local surrounding community. Anthem’s programming was partially designed to draw a hybrid of local residents and tourists into the Esplanade during off-peak times and off-peak season to enhance each visitors experience and understanding of the park’s beautiful design. More so, Anthem’s community programming provides a wide range of local instructors, teachers, artists and musicians with new and innovative means to showcase their abilities to different audiences. Most recently, Anthem has been actively working in tandem with The Goldenberg Group, a Philadelphia based real estate developer by spearheading the development and execution of events, programing and community-based initiatives for a privately managed dorm for Temple University students. Anthem’s team coordinated a variety of different programs events over the course of the year including, but not limited to a weekly wellness series, an opening day kickoff event in conjunction with the Philadelphia Phillies, a live celebrity chef’s table demo with Elliot Farmer, a Cinco de Mayo party, a pre-finals and late-night “energize and relax” event, a dynamic and interactive game night, a customizable plant party, and a host of others. Each event was crafted and executed after a thorough market research, surveying and demographic analysis was conducted. Anthem’s team also provided personnel and logistical support for extremely important Philadelphia National Night Out campaign which promotes police-community partnerships through a night of community building which took place in Goldenberg’s own, Snyder Plaza this past August. The Anthem Group has also co-produced the Epicenter Experience, a free public mobile pop-up event in Boston’s innovative Seaport District. Each pop-up event was designed to showcase Boston’s best and brightest across a multitude of professional categories which included technology, entrepreneurship, design and culture. Among the most notable events was the FOX Studio premiere of Pitch, an intimate speaker series featuring fireside chats with Mike Slaby, former CTO of Obama for America in 2008 and Emmy Award nominated actor, John Krasinski, and a live cooking demo with celebrity chef and restauranteur, Ming Tsai. The driving force behind this unique public pop-up was to fuel thoughtful conversations and invite creative minds to come together in Boston’s most innovative neighborhood. 25 Philanthropic Initiatives With a fervent passion for philanthropy, Anthem President Chris Sinclair makes it a priority to leverage Anthem’s resources to support great causes whenever possible. Over the past decade, Anthem has worked with and supported over 100 non- profit, charitable and educational organizations, from managing events, galas and fundraisers to creating fundraisers and benefits for organizations and incorporating them into Anthem’s existing programs and events. Anthem also works with a variety of community-based organizations throughout its food and beverage operations, a practice that will continue at Howard Park. Anthem has coordinated youth outings, exposing over 7,000 highly at-risk pre- teen and teenage individuals to new experiences, people and places. These outings provide the youth, many who are likely to engage in risky behaviors, including gang involvement, with an educational opportunity to leave their immediate neighborhoods – something that they may not do otherwise. Some of the organizations with which Anthem works closely throughout the entire year include Big Brothers Big Sisters, Mass Mentoring Partnership, Catholic Charities Archdiocese, Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Boys and Girls Club. As previously mentioned, Anthem also operates an inner-city youth jobs program and trains adults who face challenges re-entering the workforce due to a history of homelessness or substance abuse. In early 2018 The Anthem Team traveled to Stockton, California to produce and assist on-site with all aspects of the “Stockton Scholars” media launch event. The Stockton Scholars launch event was featured on international media outlets and accommodated several highly influential California elected officials, VIPs and nearly 600 local high school scholarship recipients. The motive of this event was to reveal an anonymous $20 million-dollar donation which initiated a college scholarship program available to all Stockton Unified graduates and presented was presented by Mayor Michael Tubbs. Given Anthem’s strong connection and passion for this truly inspirational cause, all of Anthem’ services were provided pro-bono. Additionally, Anthem was the leader behind “Hoop Dreams,” a charity basketball tournament that is played in the famed Boston Garden parquet floor. The event is co-hosted by current LA Clippers and former Celtics’ coach, Doc Rivers and current Celtics’ coach, Brad Stevens. The Anthem team volunteers its expertise in large-scale event planning, marketing and sponsorship procurement – demonstrating just one way of how Anthem’s philanthropic roots are integrated into its company culture. Anthem President, Chris Sinclair, served as the event chair for the past three years. A few of the organizations that Anthem regularly collaborates with include Easter Seals, Cradles to Crayons, The Jimmy Fund, Cancer-to-5k and a host of others. Anthem looks forward to continuing its philanthropic and community building initiatives in the City of South Bend through collaborations with a variety of organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Joseph County, the Community Foundation of St. Joseph, Miller Vet Center, and Goodwill. 26 Appendix A: The Anthem Group The Anthem Group is the parent organization to a collection of twelve interrelated companies that specialize in an array of experiential activation and experience curation. Toys for Tots Drive: During the month of December leading up to the holidays, Howard Park will work in collaboration with local members of the Marine Corps to host a “Toys for Tots” Drive in support of collecting new unwrapped toys to distribute to less fortunate children. Every person that donates a new toy to the drive will receive a pass to the enjoy Anthem’s customized “S’mores and Hot Chocolate Bar.” Ice Rink: Special Events: Dueling Pianos on the Ice: Anthem will procure two pianos that will be specially designed to be safe and suitable to be on an ice surface. The piano pedals will also be custom made, allowing the ability to be played with ice skates on. A specialized pedal cover will be created as well as to allow professional musicians to play during the dueling piano performances and occasional piano bar on the ice. School Skate Night: Every Wednesday, college students from Notre Dame, the University of Indiana and South Bend University will be invited to Howard Park for a night of skating with friends. Every Wednesday a different college will be designated to receive half price off appetizers from The Riverwalk Bistro after skating. Participation in the program must be validated by showing a skate and a valid college ID to receive the discount. Skate Date Night - Valentine’s Day: On Valentine’s Day, couples will be welcomed to celebrate their love by a romantic night of skating in Howard Park followed by a discounted, 3 course prix fixe dinner at The Riverwalk Bistro. Reservations are required to be made ahead of time. Glide and Give: On a select date in December, members of the local community will be invited for a day of skating. The event will feature a clothes drive that will be collecting winter gear to prepare those in need for the upcoming winter months. All participants that donate winter clothing will receive a free pass to the S’mores and Hot Chocolate Bar at The Riverwalk Bistro. Holiday and Winter Photos: A semi-permanent, winter themed step and repeat fixture will be set-up near the ice pond throughout the holiday season for members of the community and visitors to utilize to take fun holiday/winter photos. Rotating winter themed mascots will appear on special occasions to engage with visitors and participate in the photos. For 2019-2020 programming calendar build out, see Appendix G. 34 Appendix C: Fall Fire Festival Anthem’s Fall Fire Festival is a pre-developed concept that is structured to be executed in a waterfront location similar to Howard Park. The slow-moving section of water on the Saint Joseph River nearest the park in conjunction with the two existing pedestrian bridges, make Howard Park the ideal location for this concept. The festival would take place on both sides of the Saint Joseph River, extending 150 feet on both sides. The festival would occur every Friday evening during the fall months and the time frame will be designed to coincide with pre-Notre Dame football game pep rally activities as well other night life activities. The design of the event will feature fall décor including pumpkins, corn stalks, hay bales and gourds that will be procured from a collection of local farms. Décor, event structures, pedestrian bridges and a performance stage will all be accented with red and orange up-lighting. A host of food and beverage and retail vendors will be contracted to sell on either side of the Saint Joseph River within the designated event space. Circa 1865 will set-up and operate a pop-up bar on both sides of the river as well. A variety of fall themed, family friendly and youth-oriented programming will be offered in the afternoon leading up to the evening festivities, which will be positioned toward adults. Examples of afternoon activities include, but are not limited to: • Face painting • Balloon animals • Popcorn and cotton candy machines • Candy apple making • Pumpkin decorating Upon nightfall, floating cauldrons of real or artistically created synthetic fire will be lit, located in the meandering part of the Saint Joseph River. Live music acts will be allocated to play on the performance stage within the event lawn throughout the duration of the event. Fire performers such as flame jugglers will take the stage upon sun-set for a featured performance to kick off the evening festivities Evening festivities include, but are not limited to: • A headlining music act • Interactive lawn games/tournaments • Henna tattoo artists • Adult hot chocolate, cider, and coffee bar • Full operation of a temporary pop-up bar Festivities, vendor operation, and musical performance will continue into the evening until the conclusion of the event. 35 Appendix D: Winter Village: In order to off-set winter seasonality and increase foot traffic during the December, January and February months, Anthem proposes to integrate its existing large-scale winter activation concept within Howard Park in collaboration with Downtown South Bend and other community and economic development partners The Anthem Group has extensive experience and knowledge of this concept as well as pre-designed engineering specs and renderings that can and will be customized to suit the Howard Park venue. Anthem’s Winter Village will aid in stimulating the local economy by inviting local vendors to participate and sell their products throughout the duration of the village’s operation. Both The Riverwalk Bistro and Circa 1865 will work in conjunction with the Winter Village by continuing to offer a full kitchen and bar menu with the addition of customized items and additional features such as a hot chocolate and s’mores bar. Anthem’s Winter Village will also be inclusive of a variety of winter themed programming including activation of the permanent ice surface. Examples of programming include, but are not limited to: • Toys for Tots Drive • Dueling Pianos on the Ice • School Skate Night • Skate Date Night • Glide and Give • Holiday and Winter Photos • Cozy Night Out For further descriptions on all previously above mentioned programming, see Appendix B. 36 Appendix E: Photos See below for a collection of photos which demonstrate Anthem’s past experience in the live entertainment, large-scale event production, hospitality, experiential marketing, and placemaking industries.
