This being, the date set for deferred hearing on Resolution No. 2 for Track Separation of the Few York Central Railroad Company from Chapin Street this C ity to Michigan. Street th is C ity. In the above matter the following representatives of the various railroads and railway companies appeared. Attorneys Van Fleet and Hubbell, Mr. G..C.. Cl1feland, Civil Engineer, H. B. Reinsagen, Asst. Princ.. C. Engineer, Mr. D. C. Moen General Mgr. Mr. Walker and Mr. E. H. Potter, Agent all for the New York Central Railroad Company,.Attorney W. G. Crabill and H. L. Going,Citil Engineer for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company and F. I. Hardy for°the Chicago, South Bend & Northern Indiana Ry. Company. This natter having been duly considered, the Board indicated and announced to the various companies interested that their findings will be these. ✓The lift` at the interlocker should be Five and one half;'fe-et (5j) feet and one ` more foot (1) of depression at Chapin Street from Resolution No. 2 and Fifteen (15) feet of clearance for the Chicago, South Bend & Northern Indiana Ry. Company and that the formal order should be prepared by the legal department of the various companies, anti the Cityts and to be ready for adoption next Tuesday October 17th. ,1916 at 10: 00 A.M. City Engineer filed estimated cost of pipe sewer improvement on McPherson Street from Thomas Street to Division Street at...............$1,040.00 City Engineer filed estimated cost of pipe sewer improvement on Poster Street from Howard Street to St. Vincent Street at...............$850.00 Contract approved by the Board with the Brilliant Electric Division for the amount of $300.00 for electric light bulbs to be used by various City Departments. The City Engineer reported on the moving of the posts for the ci Welsbach Street 1 ight ing system on Mishawaka Avenue as 8ollowe: - Board of Public Works:- Gentlemen:- Purusant to your request in the above matter, I beg to report the dame has been carefully investigated by this department, I have taken this matter` up with Mr. Schlagel of the Northern Indiana Gas & Electric Company and he stated that it was difficult to make an estimate of this work, but if it did not prove to be too expensive that the company would do the work as they went along with their tape and not make a charge for the work. The same .referred to the Street Commissioner for the necessary repairs. Building Commiss ione•r filed writ-"n re -art for the Building, Department and Electrical Department for themonth end-ing September 30th.,1916. The same were read i and placed on file. Pole and wire inspector reported on compUint about guar wire crossing gate at rear of 424 Notre Dame Avenue as follows: This is a Central Union Telephone Company guy wire and should be removed north -:to the property line. The Board approved of this report. A number of interested property owners on Euclid Avenue appeared before the Board and requested that the pavement improvement to be -put in be of asphaltic con- crete. The Board instructed these property owners that the petitions October 6th. ,1916 as according to law would be checked and the final award made at. 7:45 P.M. this 10th. day of October 1916. President. The Board met in regular session at 7:45 P.M. Mr. E. M. Morris President absent. Mr. A. H. Rice acting president. Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 475 for ,Resurfacing of. La Porte Avenue from Washington Avenue to north line of Linden Avenge, In the City of South Bend, Indiana, Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance was f iled. And the Board be ing f ully, adv ised in the premises, doe ides that:.. the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal tothe estimated cast of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as' originally adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Resolved ° further, that notices .be published on the llth.day of October 1916 and on the 18th. day of October 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A.M, on the 31st. day of October 1916, The Board reserves the rightto reject any and sail -bids. Hearing given on roll showing awards of damages and assessmente of ✓ benefits( damages and benefits equal) in the matter of Vacation Resolution No. 30 for the Vacation of Street and alleys in Stover-Lon.gley Addition, In the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above ma*ter no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance was filed. The Board therefore declare the above roll filed September 12th.,1916 in all things ratified, confirmed and approved and the proceedings closed. Property owner on Robinson Street appeared before the Board and presented a petition for a street light at Robinson Street and the New York Central Railroad Co. ✓ tracks. The same was placed on file to be investigated. Contract for water connections on Euclid Avenue from La Porte Avenue to Walnut Street awarded to Wm. H. Burke. 'Contraet for water connections on Ba Porte Avenue from Washington Avenue to -North line of Linden Avenue awarded to Wm. H. Burke. The Board approved plan for cutting of curve at southeast corner of Miami Street and Lincoln Way East. City Contractor ordered to take care of same. Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Euclid _Avenue from La Porte Avenue to Walnut Street in pursuance to resolution No. 46B the petition of 'free- 61� holders residing on said street is considered and the report of the City Engineer is received and all evidence is heard, and the Board finds that said petitioners constitute a majority in number. of the resident freeholders residing on the street to be improved, and that said petition 46 sufficient and it is therefore considered and adjudged that said improvement be made with asphaltic concrete Trinidad Lake, hhe kind of pavement requested in said petition; and the City Engineer reports that the W. B. Brady Construction Company is the lowest and best bidder for said kind of pavement, and the Board so finds, and lets the contract for said improvement, to him, and orders that said improvement be made with Trinidad Lake Asphaltic Verne and all proceedings heretofore had in this matter are hereby confirmed and gpprovec. The object of such appropriation it the appropriation for the opening of Pokagon Street across the Michigan Air Line Rd. and Southern Michigan Railway Company s right of way. Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 13th. day of October 1916 and on the 20th. day of October 1916 in the South Bend Daily Tribune. This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 7th. day of November 1916 at 7:45 P.M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by these proceedings.
