The City Engineer instructed to.make-a report on the cutting Of the
curve at the southeast corner ,of ,.-Miami Street and Lincoln Way Etstv
Bdnd and contract for the grade and gravel roadway on Chapin St
and sidewalk and curb on the west side of,Chapin Street from Calvert Street to
E;wingAvenue signed by H. L.. Davis,, was approved by .the Board.
Mr. W. B. Brady of the W. B. Brady Construction Gompany with Mr.
W. G. Ducklow and Url. G. R.., Montgomery #

and requested that the Board allow the W. B. Brady Construction Company, to file
a new bond OA Eddy Street and Mishawaka Avenue pavement improvement contract.
The old bond signed June 20th 1916 by the Board to remain on file.- TheBoard
granted permission to the W. B. Brady Cnatruction Cumpany to file a new bond, a ' nd
the clerk was instructedoto make cop$ of bond on file and also resolution for
extension of time on said contract forsaid bonding company.
Communication received from The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New
'York in regard to Bond No, 532694 of the E. L. C41threll Company. The Clerk
was instructed to answer -the -same*
Petition received for a n electric light on South Phillip& Street
between'Huron Street and Division Street?,' The same -was plac-ed on -file.,
Petition for an electric light on north Sunnyside Avenue. Same read
and placed on file..
It is Resolved by the Board of Public Works that the resignation

Hearing had on* assessment roll and final estimate for Brick pavement on
alley west of Michigan Street .from La Salle Avenue to Madison. Street and alley north of
La Salle Avenue from Main Street to Michigan Street, under Improvement Resolution. No. 440
In the City of ' S outh Bend, Indiana.'
In the above smatter no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance
was filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said roll filed September
19th. ,1916 is benef itted in the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls, and the
Board further find tit , the assessment rolls filed September 19th. ,1916 and the final
estimate allowed. _Sappbomber 1,9th.1916 should be and the same. are hereby in all things

on Jaquith Court from Prairie Avenue to.Chapin Street under Improvement Resolution No.
441, In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter remonstrators appeared but no written remonstrance
was filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls Piled
September 12th ,1916. is benef itted in the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls,
and the Board further find that the assessment roll filed September 12th. and the final
estimate allowed September 12bh. , 1916. should be *and the same is hereby in all things
mat if ied, c onf irmed and approved.
Hearing had on assessment roll "and final estimate for pipe sewers on
Orchard street -from Scott Street to Kendall Avenue'and on Kendall Street from lat. alley
north of Orchard Street to point €30 feet north of Dunham Street, under Improvement
Resolution No.451. In the City of South - Bead, Ind iana. .
In the above matter remonstrators appeared and remonstrated against
amount of assessments against their property, but no written remonstrance was filed.
The Board after due ons iderat ion decided to deduct the cost of Orchard Street pipe sewer
assessment off, be cause of trunk sewer benefit and unusual circumstances of health
c and it ions and abenef it to the C ity. This amount to be paid by the City of South Bend,
and the City Engineer was instructed to revise said assessment roll accordingly. The
Board therefore find that the property assessed in said roll filed September 19th. , 1916
and mod if ied at -this hearing is benefited in the amount of assessments as shown on said
revised assessment roll, and the Board further find that the assessment tells filed
September 19th., 1916 and the final estimate allowed September 19th., 1916 should be
and the same are hereby in all things ratified, c onf irmed and approved.
Hearing had Improvement Resolution No., 472 for -pipe sewer on Dale Avenue
from Ind iana Avenue ,t o .Duba it Avenue, In the C ity of S outh Bend, Ind Tana.
Upon said hearing a remonstrator appeared bu t nod written remonstrance
was filed.. And ,thy Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the bene-
fits to property liable to 'be assessed for said improvement are equal to the estimated
ost. of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon the Board decided
that said resolution was to be mod if ied to read as follows_; Pipe sewer on Dale Avenue
from Dubai 1 Avenue to the center of Lot 23 O&k Park Add it ion. This lot belonging to
Phillip D.' Rock., and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as modified and
the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmd and approved.
Resolved further, that notices be published on the 5th. day of
1916 and on the 12th. day of October 1916. in a newspaper of genera]. circulation
said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construct ion of said
to 10:00 A.M. on the 24th. day of October 1916. The Board reserves the right to
any and all b ids .
