Mr. John Konzen appeared before the Board and stated that a horse be oh_ ing to him had injur;gd his kr�ee from.fdlling over a tilted manhole cover on extreme end of Concrete pavement on Prairie Avenue this city, and stated he would like to have some one look at this horse as the same was in pain and would have to be killed. The Board informed Mr. Konzen someone would look at it soon. the matter of driving large auto trucks with steel wheels over pavements in the City wa.3 taken un -.nd discussed with Geo . Hoffman owner of said trucks, and the Board instructed Mr. Geo. Hoffmn,h to dispose of these trucks as soon as possible. Mr. J. C . Paxson, appeared before the Board and complained of water tabs on Michigan Street not oeing laid low enought. This matter was turned over to F . J.-Anderson City Engineer for investigation. Mr. C. A. Perkins appeared before the Board in regard to renting of building at- rel-'r of property owned by the City at 224 N. Main Street. The Board instructed Mr. Perkins to take full charge of this. President. 242. 16. Board met in regular session at 7:45 P.M. Mr. A. H. Rice absent, Mr. Shirk appeared before the Board and complained of the size of sewer that was to be laid on Miami Strut between Fox Street and Ewing Avenuee The Board informed Mr. Shirk that nothing could be done now as the contract had been let for the said sewer. Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 468. for pavement on ✓ Euclid. Avenue from La Porte Avenue to Walnut Street. In the City of -South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no written remon- strance was filed. And the Board being; fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property, liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the esti-. mated cost of the same, as re-orted by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution. as originally adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed `and a^proved. Resolved further, that notices be published on the 7th. day of September 1916 and or the 14th day of Setember 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A.M. on the 26th. day of September 1916. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Deferred hearing on assessment roll and final estimate for Ashaltic Concrete navement on K_easey Street from Carrolll Street to Michigan Street, under. 1-1 Improvement Resolution No. 407. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Tn the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance was filed. The Board therefore find that the roperty assessed in said roll filed August 15th. 1916 is benefitted i^ the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls, and the Board further find that the assessment roll filed August 15th, 1916 should be and the same is hereby in all things t atified, confirmed and approved. Petition for a pipe sewer or. High Street from center of Bowman Street to Fwing Avenue and or, Ewing Avenue from High Street to Miami Street and Miami Street from Ewing Avenue south 1250 feet. The same was referred to the City Engineer for investigtion. Petition for a grade on Catalpo. Avenue from Indiana Avenue to Calvert Street. Same reff�rred to the City Engi-neer for invesigation. Petition received from property owners in the square bounded by Main, Mayne, Lafayette and Division Streets petitioning for the installation of an electric lamp of not less than 80 candle bower, at the junction of the alley which runs north and south, and Place Court, which runs east and west through the above described square. The same read and placed on file. `l43 Report filed. by C. A. Perkins. Flag halyard and tower on City Hall struck by lighting night of September 4h.,lQl5 halyard destroyed and terra cotter ridge roll knocked from tower and. falling on roof damaged roof. A new halyard and about one dozen roof tile will be required. The same was referred to the the City Building Inspector C. A. Perkins for repairs. The damages to°be taken up with Insurance companies. The Board instructed the City Civil Engineer fo take care of all r construction work on the Michigan Street imps ovement and Eddy Street, and Mishawaka Ave. The Board instructed the City Civil Engineer to take up the matter of moving Welsbach Street lamps on Mishawaka Avenue hack to the curb with said company.
