Raff appeared before the Board acid presented, Plata of Oliver's First and Second Additions. The same were deferred to the City Engineer to be reported on at %: 45 P.M. this lw-ot.. , of "i July 1916 a This being the day set for deferred hearing on resolution No. 1 for Track Separation of the New York Central Ry. Company from Chapin Street to Michigan Street In the above matter, Atty. Hubbell, Mr. E. H. Potter, Agent, and Mr. H. B..Reinsagen, Princ. Asst. Engineer and Mr. Talker, Engineer for the New York Central Ry. Company, Mr. Johnson Engineer and Itty. Parker for the Vandalia Ry. Co. and Atty. Crabill and Mr. Going Engineer for the Grand Trunk Ry. Company appeared before the Board in regard to tht above matter. An amended remo nstrance was filed by the Attorney f0-the New York Central Ry. Company. The Grand Trunk Ry. Company and the Vandalia Ry. Company met with the Board at this Time as their tracks cross said New York Central Ry..Company . After a lengthy discussion on the separation of tracks in this City on the.New York Central Ry. Company, the Board continued this meeting until 1:00 P.M. this 18th., day of July 1916. Petition received for a pavement on.Harrison Avenue from Lincoln Tay Test to Fuerbringer Street. The same was referred to the City Engineer for investi - gat ion. Petition received for establishing a grade on TAll Street from 6th. Street to Pottowatomie Park. The same was read and referred to the City Engineer. July 1910" Board adjourned at 12:15 P.M. to meet at 1: 00 P.M. this 18th. day of President. Board met in adjourned session at I:00 P.I. All members present. ✓ The hearing of the Track Separation Resolution No,. 1-for the Separation of Grades and tracks on the New York Central Ry. Compa ny being con tinued until this time, the Board with representatives of the New York Central_ Ry. Company, Grand Trunk Ry. Company and the Nandalia Ry. Co. and the City Civil Engineer and the Engineer -for the Studebaker,Corporation discussed and examined the the profiles and plans for the searation of grades and tracks of the New York Central Ry. Company. At the request of Attorney Hubbell for the New York Central Ry. Company the,Board continued this hearing until Tuesday August lst.,1916 at 10:00 A.M. Representatives of the Grand,Trunk Ry. Company and..also of the Vandalia Ry. Company agreed to file papers to become parties to this improvement on account of their crossings and connections with the New York Central Ry.- Co. President, 201 Board met in regular session at 7:45 P.M. All members present. Hearing had on improvement Resolution No. 456 for cleaning outand deepen- ing McCartney Creek from Beck's Lake or LaSalle Lake to a point 300 feet north of the center of Vassar Avenue. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing remonstrators appeared but no written remonstrance was filed. A. nd. the Board being fully advised in the premises decides -that the benefits to proper° y liable to be assessed for said improvements are .equal to the estimated colt of the same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final actio n on.said resolution as originally adoptedp and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and -approved. Resolved further that notices be published on the 21st. day of July 1916 and on the 28th., day of July 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A .M. on the 8th. day of August ° 1916. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 459. for sidewalk on east side of Miami Street from North line of Lot 192 in the South East Addition to a,point 4084 feet north of the north line of lot 192 in South East Addition. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The board after aue consideration decided to defer all action on same until Tuesday August ist.1916 at 7:45 P.M. Hearing had on improvement Res o It ion No. 458. °for pipe sewer on Miami Street from Fox Street to Ewing Avenue, In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as re orted by th, City Civil Engineerm and thereupon takes final action on said resolu- tion as originally adoptedm and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and a oproved. Resolved furtherm that notices be published on the 21st. day of July 1915 and on the 28th. day of July 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in s,,.id City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the onstruction of said improvements up to 10:00 A.M. on the 8th. day of August 1916. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all b ids . Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 457 for pipe sewer on Frances Street from South Bend Avenue to a point 100 feet north of the north line of Sorin Street In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearng no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance was filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal Yo the estimated cost of the same, as re ported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as originally adopted, and the same is hereby in all things rati- fied,, confirmed and a opr oved . Resolved further, that notices'be published on the 21st. day of July 1916 and on the 28th. day of July 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A. Hearing had on assessment roll and final estimate for grade, curb and walk on South side of Ewing Avenue from Michigan Street to St. Joseph Street under Improvement Resolution No. 428. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said roll filed June 27th. 1916 is benefitted in the amount of assessments as shorn on said roll., and the Board further find that theroll filed June 37th. 1916 and the final estimate allowed June 27th.,1916 should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified, con- firmed and approved. The Board ordered that a boulevard light be placed at the end of —boulevard lights on Jefferson Blvd. on pole now installed. 02, I Clerk instructed to notify Mr. F. C. Raff to bring in affidavits Frith plats and to widen Scott Street. also Mr. Harry A. Wood for the Samuel Good Plat. Mr.- Chas. Wiedler and Mr. Jackson of Donald Street appeared before the Board and requested that curb and walk be put in together on Donald ✓ Street. The Board agreed to notify the Contractor to place curb and walk together. Petition for water conctions on Cherry Street from Rapier Street to Division Street,was read and referred to Supt. Toyne of the Water Dept., The Board ordered the Clerk to place order with Studeabker Corporation for the refilling of ten Horse drawn sweeper brooms, eight feet long. By motion of Mr. J. B. Weber and seconded by Mr. A. H. Rice, two electric fans, were ordered purchasgd for the City Court room and the Engineering Department office. Bond and contract signed by C. L Headley and the London &-Lancashire Indemnity Company of America for grade, curb 4van4walk and gravel roadway on -Donald Street, was approved by the Board, Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Jaquith Court from Prairie Avenue to Chapin Street with asphalt Asphaltic Concrete, Brick.or Bithulithic in pursuance to resolution No.,445 tLs being the day for receiving and opening bids, the Board at 10:00 A.M. publicly opened and read and considered all bids. And thereupon the Board designated Concrete pavement as the kind of pavement with which said street is to be improved and fixes the 2$th . day of July 1916 as the time when petitions must be filed, and the Board hereby continues this matter until the 25th. day of July 1916 at 10:00 A.M. and all bids are hereby referred to the City Engineer for tabulation and report as to the lowest and best bid.
