Milton Avenue to Baveaan Street.

rear of 803 Forest Avenue, and the Board approved of th a same.
This a a Home Telephone
Company pole as there is a duble garage now being built in the rear of this lot the pole
should be resett to the north dividing line of the lot. The work should be done at once.

LOCAL SEWER IMPROVEMERr RESOLUTION NO. 454.
Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend,County
of St. Joseph County, State of Indiana. That the construction of ajocal sewer, intended
and adapted only for local use by the property holders whose property abuts thereoni
and not intended or adapted for receiving sewerage from collateral drains, be and the
same is, hereby ordered . in and along Marine .Street • from Indiana Avenue to Calvert
Street as follows, to -wit: -
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Indians
Avenue and Marine Street; thence south along the center line of Marine Street to the
center of Dayton Street with an 18 inch vitrified pipe serer; thence still south along
the center line of said :+urine Street to the center of Calvert Street with a 15 inch
vitrified pipe sewer. Together with the necessary mamhilles, inlets, conduits and house
connections to the curb lime along the line of said improvement,. All as shown on the
plans and in ace rdance with the profiles .detail drawings andspecifications on file_ lit
the Office of the Department of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana and said
sewers with all its appurtenances shall be constructed in accordance with the profile
and specifications now on file in the office of the Department of Public Works of
said City. The cost of said improvement shall be apportioned against and paid by the
property holders whose property abuts thereon, and upon the City of South Bend, if the
City is benefitted by said improvement, all accordng to the method and manner prvvied
for is Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled a An Act Con-
cerning Municipal Corporations," approved March 691905. Assessments, if deferred' are to
be paid In ten equal annual installments, with interest at the rate of Six per cent per
annum. A bond or bonds shall be issued to the contractor in payment f,rr such works
unless the property owners pay said assessments before said band or bonds are issued.
Under no etreumstances shall the City of South. Bend be or be held responsible for any sum
or sums due from said property owner or owners fr said works or for .the collection of the
same, , or for the payment of ar-V bond or bonds, certificate or certificates, issued to said
contractor in payment for such work,. except for sudh moneys as shall have been actually
received by the. City from the assessments for such improvement, or such moneys as said
City I by said above entitled Act required to pay. Al 1 proceedings had, and work dome in the
making of said improvement , assessment of property, collections of assessments and issuance
of bonds therefor, shall be as provided for in said above entitled Act.
Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 15th. dad of June 1916, and
on the 22d. day of June 1916* in the South Bend Daily Tribune. This Board wil give a
hearing -on this resolution at its orfi.ce in the City Hall on the llth. day of July 1916

Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend*
Comity or St.; Jose State of Indiana, that the construction of a local sewer, int nded and
adapted only for 1: 1 use by the property holders whose property abuts thereon, and not
intended and adapted nor receiving sewerage from collateral drains, be and the same is
hereby o-rdered in and along Donald Street from Michigan Street to Main Street, as follows,-
t o'-wit :-
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Michigan Street and Donald
Street; thence west of the center line of said Donald Street to a point SO feet east of the
west line of Main Street with a 10 inch vitrified pipe sewer. Together with the necessary
manhiles, inlets, conduits and house connections to the curb line along tact line of said

and specifications on file in the offi ce of the Departuret of Public Works of the City of

in payment for such works ,except for such moneys as shall have been actually received -
by the City from the assessments for such improvement, or such moneys as said City is by
said above entitled Act required to pay. All proceedings had, .nd work done in the Taking
of said improvement, assess ent or pa"erty, collections of assessments and issuance of bonds
therefor, shall be as provided for in said above entitled Act.
Notice of this resolution shall be publi hed on the 15th. day of June 191-6 and
on the 22nd. day of June 1916. in the South Bend -Daily Tribune. This Board will give a
hearing on tAis resolution at its office in the City Hall on the llthe day of July 1916

RESOLUTION N0. 456.
Resolved by the Board of Public Worksf the City of Srnth Bend, State of
Indi nag that it is necessary for the welfare of the people of said City to clean out
and deepen a creek known as McCartney Creeksa natural. water course, which creep
drains land both within and without the said City of South Bend; said creek to be
cleaned out and deepened beginning,at Beek's Lake, sometimes known as La Salle Lakes
and running north easterly along .the line of said creek. to a point three hundred (300)
feet north of the center of Vassar Avenue in said City.
The cost of said improvement shall be apportioned against and paid by the
property holders whose property abuts thereon, and upon the City of South Bend, Indiam,
if said City is benefitted by said improvements all accordi-xg to the method and manner
provided for in an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indians, entitled ti An
Act Con erring Municipal Corporat ions, ° approved March 6th. 919059,
And said work is hereby ordered to be made, and the `City Engineer.of
said City is hereby directed t o file necessary drawings and specifications for saki
work in the office of this Board.

The Board ordered that a new Elliott Fisher Book -Typewriter be purchead
for the office of the Board at the sum of Two hundred eight dollars with twenty five
dollars discount making machine Two hundred fifty 'five dellars. The machine now in the
office of the Board to be transferred to the Park Beard office.
The awarding of the contract for wee' rouneotions on Michig&n Street
from La Salle Avenue 'to South Street was ,deferred until Tuesday die 20th.;1,1916. at 10:

1. Hearing had on Amprovement resolution No. 445 for grade, curb walk and gravel
roadway on Donald Street from Michigan Street to` Main Street, in the City of South Bead,
Ind lam.,
Upon said hearing no remonstrators and no remonstrances were filed. And the Board
bw ing ully advised in the 'premises, decides that the benefits to property liable to be
assessed for said improvement are equal to the estimated cost of the sa,r.e, as reported by the
City Civil Engineer, and theregpon takes final action on said resolution as orginally
adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.
Resolved further, that notices be published on the 29th. day of June 1916.
and on the 26th. day of .Mine 1916 Ina new paper of general circulation in said City,°stating
that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements, up to 10:00
A.M. on the llth. day of July 1916. This Board reserves the right to reject any and all
bids.
Hearing given on assessment roll and final estimate for pipe sewer on Hoose
Court# from Shapin Street to 100 feet west of Scott Street, under Improvement Resolution
No. 419. In t he City of Suth Bead, Indiana.
In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed.

Hearing had on assessment roll and final estimate for pipe sewer on Crby Street
from Niles Avenue to East line of St. Louis Boulevard, under Improvement Resolution No. 393
In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter two remonstrators appeared and remonstrated aginst the
condition of the street, but no written remonstrance eras filed. The Board therefore find that
the property assessed in said roll filed May 23rd. 1916a is benefitted in the amount of
assessments as shove on said roll, and the Board further find that the assessment roll filed
May 23rd. 1916. , and the final estimate allowed, stay 23rd. 1916* should be and the sane are
hereby in all things ratified, confirmed anal approved. City Engineer instructed to see
that street was put in, better condition.
Hearing had on, assessment roll and final estimate for pipe sewer on Indiana
Avenue from Michigan Street to Main Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 409. In the
City of South Bead, Indiana.
In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were
filed, The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed May 23rd.

further find that the assessment roll filed May�,23rd. 1916 and the final estimate allowed
May 23rd, 1916 should be and the same are hereby in all thi gs ratified, confirmed and
approved.
Be it Resolved by the Board of Public Works that all matters pertaining to the
pipe sewer improvement on Francis Street from South Bend Avenue to .Soria Street under
Tmproveme nt Resolution NO, 426 is hereby rescinded. The reason for same being that all bids
received were above the estimate., New resolution ordered.
In regard to the avarding of the cont-act for pipe . sewer on Bowman Street
rem High. Street to Miami Streets under Improvement •Re s olut ion No. 437. the same was
held. until Tuesday June 20th.91916. at 10:00 A.M.
In regard to making the perliminary arder on pavement on alley most
of Lafayette street from Colfax Avenue to La Salle Avenue, the s"e was held up until
Tuesday June 20th.91916. at 10:00 A.M. °

In regard to the JaquiTh Court pavement the following order was si gae d.

considered all 1bids and then continued their meeting to .7:45 P.M. this 13th. day of
June 1916.
Now on last named date, the Board designate Concrete Fs the kind of pavement
with which said alley is to be improved and fixes the 24th. day of June at 10:00 A.M.
as the time when petit ions for changing the kind of pavement must be filed, and the
Board hereby continued this matter until the 24th. day of June 1916 at 10:00 A.N* on the
day, above named the Board will either pass on petitions let said cotract or reject all
bids.

Concerning the improvement of the. roadway of Alley west of Michigan Street'
from La Salle Avenue to Madison Street also alley north of La Salle Avenue from Main St.
to Michiga n Street, with asphalt, asphaltic conerete, bithulithic, brick in prusuance
to resolution No.440 this being the day for maklAg the preliminary award designating
kind of pavemnt. The Board at 10:00 A.M. this 13th. clay of June 1916, publicly opened
read end considered all bids and then continued their meeting to 7:45 P.M. this 13the day
of June 1916.

with which said alley is to be improved and fixes the 24th. day of June 1916 at 10:00-A.M

✓ conduit from a manhole on the south side of Jefferson Blvd. at the alley east oi'. Michigan
Street. to a point abut 75 feet west on Jefferson Blvd , so that they could install
cables for wiring the new bank building on the sottheast corner of Michigan. St. and
Jefferson Blvd. also permission to set a 40 ft. pole directly south of the rear and of
the Piowaty Fruit House .

A. M. , The City Attorney to have an ordinance drawn to present to Common Council
before the same is let.
Contract for grade, curb walk and gravel roadway on Indiana Avenue from
