Meyers appeared before the Board in regard to permission to place freight depot at La Porte Avenue and Colfax Avenue. The Board took this matter under advisement until Tuesday April 25th. ,1916 at 10:00 A.M. Mr. Engeldrum appeared before the Board in regard to having an alley between Main Street and Lafayette Blvd nd Bartlett end Navarre Street paved. No action was taken. Instructed to have petition signed for the same. Petition received for brick pavement on Stull Street from Michigan Street to Franklin Street. The same was referred to, _the City Engineer for investigation. Petition for pavement on Fuerbringer Street from Sherman Avenue to Cottage - Grove Avenue. The same was referred to the City Engineer for investigation. Building Commissioner Perkins with Mr. C . Smogor appeared before the Board in regard to tree erection of a hall at 1321 Fisher Street, in accordance with Building Code. No action was taken. The following petition was received and referred to the Common Council as the Board has no jurisdiction over Street cn rs. PETITION. o the Honorable Board of Public Works, ity. At a recent meeting of the Oliver and Sample Civic Centers the question of Street car service has been discussed and the consensus of opinions is that the service is in- adeguate both as to frequency and to size of cars. ` At present there is only half hour service on both the Chopin nd Sample Street lines, and during rush hours the, cars are much too small to accommodate the crowds. We would suggest and reppectfully request fifteen minutes service with larger cars on both lines, Therefore, we the undersigned, residents to the Chapin -,:nd Sample Street districts hereby petition your honorable body for the improvement as above outlined. Signed by about eighty residents. The Clerk was instructed to write to Civic Clubs and inform them that this petition was turned over to the Common Council for consideration. M, Street Commissioner recommended that cement walk extensions be put in at these east and west extensions of Division Street across Meade and Klley Street. also that plank crosswalks will be placed on Division Street across Meade and Klley Streets as soon as possible. Communication received and read from the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company in regard to the discontinuing of lights in Skating rinks. Same placed on file. Communication received from The. St. Joseph 'Loan- & Trust Company by George U. v Bingham, Secy. in regard to Creosote Block pavement on Michigan Street. Same placed on file. Grade approved on the 2nd. alley west of Miami Street between Indians. Avenue and Dubail Avenue. R E S 0 L U T I 0 N. Resolved, by unanimous consent of the Board, that a Street Flusher be ordered !/ from the Studebaker Corporation of American at the sum of $12350.00. Communication reeeived from the Vaccuum Ice Plant in regard to a street ✓ flusrer, same read and platen on file. in regard to complaint filed of telephone pole in front of a window ,which property owner wants to convert into a dooit in building used as warehouse and owned by J. C. Barrett, the Pole and wire inspector reports and recommends as follows. This pole is an A.T.&T. Pole No. 3 when this window is made into a door the pole will blockade the entrance to the doorway. The pole should be reset to the south about 15 feet. This Building has been built since the pole was set. This work should be finished as soon as the door is built. The Board approved the above recommendation. In regard complaint of pole in the way of the building of a new garage in the rear of 404 E. Indiana Avenue, the pole and wire inspector recorsmends the ,j following. This is a Central Union Telephone Company pole and it should be trenched out into the alley as it now stands on private ground. This wore: should be done at once as it stops the building of a garage. The Board approved tree above recommendation. Permission granted to the Central Union Telephone Company to place one pole on the south west corner of alley between ®edar Street and Madison Strec--t and Francis and. Eddy Streets as per diagram. Company ordered to stencil all poles now standiig. The Street Commissioner reported on the following defective walks which thirty day notices were se it out on and Itad e--p iced, and the Board hereby orders / that the City Contractor be ordered to construct or repair walks according to Resolution No. 422 for the Construction of repairing of Various Walks in the City* A. & J. Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Vounty of St. Joseph, State of Indiana, That the construction of a local ,sewer, intended and adapted only for local use by the property holders whose property abuts thereon, and not intended or adapted for, receiving sewerage from collateral drains, be and the sa:Ile is, hereby ordered in and along Marietta Street from Dubail Avenue to a point 100 feet north of the north line of Dayton Street, as fellows, to —wit :- Beginning at the inter- section of the center line of Marietta Street and Dubail A venue;, thence south on tie center line of Marietta Street to a point 100 feet no •th of the north line of Dayton Street with a 10 inch vitrified pipe sewer.
