Witwer appeared before the Board in regard to the final award of con— tract on Keasey Street, and in regard to petition filed with Board on April 10th.,1916 as follows: r Aril Sth. 1916. HONORABLE BOARD OF PUBLIC CORKS, p City of South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen:— We hereby earnestly petition your Honorable Body to throw out ell bids for pavement on Keasey Street and a,�vertise for new bids with the view of getting better prices and more satisfactory results any we all _Prefer and want asphaltic concrete sied by 24 property holders. T):e following resolution was approved by the Board. On the llth. day of April 1916 a petition w s filed with the Board of Public Yorks by resident free holders on Keasey Street asking that all bids be rejected and that the Board re —advertise for new bids on the several -sets of specifications on file. And .there having been no final award made in s id ten(10) day period and the Board being of the opinion that the bids filed with said Boy=. rd are unreasonablly high and does hereby grant said petition and does hereby reject all bids and ordered that new bids should be re —advertised for on the several sets of specifications on file. Resolved further, that bids be advertised for on the 13th. day of April 1916 and on the 20th. day of A p ril 1916 in the South Bend Daily T ribumn in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the consi. raction of said improvements, up to 10:00 A.M. on the 2nd. day of May 1916 The Board reserves the right to re jest .any a°?.d all bids. The Board instructed the City Civil Engineer to take up the matter of the Vacation of East Division Streetqwhich the Cutter Company have obstructed with tracks and report to the Board. Gent lemen: •- You are hereby now and fo °ever released from any and allm liability under your bend #53452 in the penalty of $11,000.00 executed April lst,1915 ,on be helaf of the VW. Sibley Company of South B-:nd, Indiana., in favor of the City of South Bend for the use of the Department of Public Works covering excavations in the streets of said City, arising subsequent to April lst.1916. Witness now the excution of this instrument - nd release in accordance with the power in it vested and in accordance with the terms sand provisions of the above mentioned bond this llt h. day of April 1916. DEPART=RENT OF PUBLIC WORKS of the City of South Bend, Ind. by E.M. MORRIS Plans of Steam Heating System St. Joseph Heating Company of South Bend, Indiana, were presented to the Board and the same was placed on file. Clerk instructed to write to the South Bend Home Telephone Company informing them that the Board expects them to comply with Ordinance pertaining to underground work. City Cemetery Sexton filed with the Board financial report for the month ending March 31 st .1916 . Permi=lion granted the ;South Bend Home Telephone Company to set a pole at the intersection of the alley ,west of Lafayette and North of La Salle Street. Same to be set to the north side of the corner of alley and 'remove two other poles from this allgys Grade on .the following streets and alley,- were approved by the Board. Randolph Street between Caroline Street and Robinson Street. Dayton.Street between Caroline Street and west line of Robinson's 2nd. Addition on both sides. Ailey north of Madsson Street between Main Street and Lafayette Blvd. Elmer Street between Elwood Avenue Bulla St. and Seller Street. Alley west of Fain Street from Madison Street to Marion Street. Excavation bond for the sum of One Thousand Dollars signed by the Indiana & Michigan Electrio Company was approved by' the Board. President. 0 Board met in regslar session at 7:45 P.M. Mr. A. H. Hearing given on Vacation Resolution No. 27 for the purpose of vacating `�of William Street from North line of 1st. alley north of i'ndiana Avenue to southerly line of Terre Haute Ee Logansport Railroad Cots right of way, In the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrance was Filed, the Board therefore sustain all former action taken and declare the above described property in all things vacated and this resolution in all things ratified, confirmed and app rov ed. Resolved further that, the City Engineer be instructed to prepare a roll showing awards of damages and a,-sessments of benefits to all parties and properties interested ,in the above matter. Four property owners appeared before the Board remonstrancing against the ,j any action by the Board allowing the Chicago, Lake Shore and South Bend Ry. Company placing their freight yards and depot in the on their ground in the vicinity of LaPorte Avenue and Colfax Avenues. In the matter of the hearing on resolution for the grading and grav&ling of Pokagon Street from Tecumseh Avenue to the Mi c rigan Cent ra 1 Ry. Co. right of way the MicYdgan Central Ry. Company right of way. The Board continued said hearing until Tuesday April 25th.,1916 at 7 :45 P.M. Petition received for pavement on alley west of Lafayette Blvd. between Colfax Avenue and La Salle Avenue. wes received read and the Board ordered that a ✓ resolution be ordered on same. Contract for the tinting of the ceiling find sidewalls, finishing counter and base boards of the Building Inspectors rooms, also two coats of tint on the walls and ceiling of the Mayor's office was awarded to I. W. Lower for the sum of $21.75 Petition received read and placed on file for an electric light at the intersection of alley between Hie ri gan St re et and Main Street and Monroe Street and South Street. The same was placed on file. Excavation bond for the sum of One Thousand Dillars( 1,000.00) signed v by Daniel L. Guiler doing business as National Heating Company was approved by the Board.
