All members present. r/' The City Civil Engineer reported the tabulation of bids for the improv° me -lit of Indiana Avenue from Leer Street to Kemble Avenue with pavement, and on Mic q gan ,Street from N. line of La Salle Avenue to South line of South Street with pavement and the Board sigied the following orders. Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Mi c higan Street from North line of La Salle Avenue t o the south line of South St reie $ wit h' a sph' lt, Bithulithi c Creosoted Wooden Blcoks, or Brick, in pursuance to Resolution No. 4151, this being the day set for making the pre limina xy award designating kind of pavement, the Bo s rd at 10:00 A,M. Tuesday April 4th.,1916 publicly opened and read and considered all bids, and then continued their meeting to Ap-ril 7th., 1916 at 4:30 P.M. Now on last named date the Board designates Sheet Asphalt as the kine of pavement with which said street is to be improved and fixes the 19th. day of April 1916 at 10:00 A.M. as the time when petitions for changing the kind of pavement must be filed, and the Board hereby continues this matter until the 19th. day of April 1916 at 10:00 A.M. Mr. Brandon, with Committee from the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Board and presented petition itigned by One -hundred. and fifty Business men petition .ing the Board to purchase street flushers and to cause such streets as Michigan, ,Main, Wayne, Jefferson, Washington, Colfax and other street in business section to be flushed at least twice weekly. The same was read and placed on file, and the Board informed such committee that the same would be given consideration. Concerning the Improvement of the roadway of Indiana Avenue from Leer Street to Kemble Avenue, with Asphalt, Asphaltic Concrete, Bithulithic , or Brick 'in pursuance to Resolution No. 4169 this being the day set for making the preliminary 'award designating the kind of pavement. RESOLUTION Resolved, by unanimous consent of the Board, That the payroll of day Laborers in the Street Department be increased from 17-1/2 cents per -,our yo 20 cents per hour, Nine (9) hours constituting a day. Resolved furthers that those doing special work and getting 20 cents per hour be increased to 22-1/2 cents per hour. Nine (9) hours constituting a clay. ,l7J.V-. Dear Sirs: The Board of Examiners having in charge the examination of Candidates 3Bor the position of Assistant Electrician have completed their work, and herewith submit their report. Three Candidates were examined, and the following is a list of those receiving a grace above 70% Fred Champaign 83.95y6 Earl Havens--- --- -------- —52.05% Frederick J. Ande rson, Cha i rman E. A. Anutin Secretary. The Board having examined the report handed them by the Examining Board hereby appoints Earl Havens' as the Assistant City Electrician. His term of office to start Monday April loth., 1916. The salary to be $75.00 per month, subject to ratification by the Common Council. Bond and. con#tract .for the construction of the Hoose Court pipe sewer from Chapin treet to 100 feet west of the west line of Sco:t Street, signed by L. H. Webster was approved by the Boar's Exaeavation bond for the sum of One Thousand Dollars signed by Chas. M. Oberlein Company and the Globe Indemnity Company w s approved by the Bo,--,rd. Petition for electric light on South Main Street from corm_ r of So. Morin Street and Thomas Court. The same w_ s placed. on file, until investigated by the Board. On motion duly made and seconded, the following preamble end resolutions were unanimously adopted: WHEREAS, The Board of Park Commissioners did on the 17th. day of December 1915 deem it expedient and of public utility to premanently improve Niles Avenue between Howard Street and Corby Street, by pavi ig the roadway of the same, and did on sf--id date pass and adopt a resolution autho ri zing said permanent Improvement,, and.
