Platt appeared before the Board for an the Board's opinion on the sub -dividing of a, tract of land between Caroline Street sand Kline Street south of -Lincoln Way East. No action taken by the Board. Petition presented by Joseph Wypiszynski for a light at corner of Napier Street abd Pine Street.. The same was read and .placed on file for investigation. Mr. Chas. Prast and Mr. Geo. Carll appeared before the Board in regard to the platting of the Chas. Prast property on Lincoln Way West. No action taken by the Board. Petition for the paving of Leer Street from Lincoln Way East to Calvert ✓ Street received by the Board and placed on file fl r s ixty' days. ( Call up May 15t h. , 1916.} The City Civil Engineer submitted the estimated cost of the Gravel roadway and grading of Pokgaon Street from Tecumseh Avenue to the Michigan Central Railroad at 39200.00 Petition for sewer and pavement on West' Indiana Avenue from Kemble Ave. ✓ to ,Prairie Avenue, vms received and placed on file. Report received from the Travelers Indemnity Company, Hartford, Conn.in regard to the City Hall boilers. The s£me was read and placed on file. The following waiver was filed with the Board and permission granted. South Bend, Ind. March 2,1916. TO TBE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS South .Bend, Indiana* We, the undersigned, being the only persons owing property on- Washington Street from Sunnyside Avenue to Jacob Street and we only are affected by improvements made on said street.. We do hereby waive all objections and defense to any defect in these proceedings and to any violation in procedure for the improve- ment of streets as fixed by Section 8710 of Burn's Revised Statute of 1914, and request that a permit be issued to a, duly authorized contractor for the grading of the roadway of said Washington Street from Sunnyside Avenue to Jacob Street. The Board ordered that bids should be received fc r the painting of same at the next re�,uler session of the Board. Mr. D. C. Layton, Street Commissioner reported to the Board the condaltion of the River Bank along the outlet of the Leland Ave-nue sewer. The sayr:e was orete reyd cleaned up. President. Board. met in regular session at 7:45 P.M. All members present. Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No., 417 for Pavement on Eddy Street from Jefferson Blvd. to Sample Street Bridge and Mishwaka Avonue from Eddy Street to center of Nineteenth Street, In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing remonstrators appeared and a written remonstrance was filedg(by property owners requesting that the above improvement be put off for one-year) The Board after due consideration decided to defer their decision od said improvement until Tuesday March, 28th.,1916 at 7:45 P.M. Hearing had an Improvement Resolution No. 41S for pipe sewer on Hoose Court from Ob4pff# Street to 100 feet west of the west ' line of Set-tt Street, In the City of South Bend, Indiana.,. Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no reronstrances were filed. And the -Board being -fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same: as. reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolu- tion as oringinally adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified,, conftrmed and approved. Resolved further, that notices be published on the 16th. day of March 1916 and on the 23rd. day of March 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements, up to 10:00 A.M. on the 4th. d. y of Apri1,1916. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Petition presented to the Board for gradingvgra veling sidewalk and curb on North Elmer Street from Mayrs Michigan Avenue Addition to Keller Street. The same was read and referred to the City Civil Engineer for investigation. The Board ordered that a resolution be prepared for sidewalk and curb on Ewing Averne from Michigan Street to St.' Joseph Street. Clerk instructed to notify Indiana & Michigan Electric Company to dis- continue lights which were ordered temporarily in the Parks at the skating rinks. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2701916. Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: that it is desirable to vacate the following: William Street from the north line of the first alley north of Indiana Avenue to the southerly line of the Terre Haute and Logansport Railroad Co's right-of-way. Described more fully as follows,to-wit:- Beginning at the southwest corner of lot 3 Stull's Fourth Addition; thence north on the west line of s:-id lot 3, One hundred twelve and four tenths (112.4) feet to the southerly line of the right of way of the Terre Haute & Logansport Railroad Co., thence{ northwesterly on the southerly line of tie right of way of said railroad sixty six and seven tenths ('66.7) feet to the north east corner of lot S in` Stull's Rourth Addition; thence south on the east line of lots S and 9 in said Stull's Fourth Addition one hundred forty two and one tenth (142.1) feet to the southeast corner of lot in said Addition; thence east sixty (60) feet to the place of beginning. r The following property may be injuriously or beneficially erfected bu such vacation:- All of lot 3.4.5. 6s79 5999109112129 and 13 of Stull's Fourt?Addition, Rigth of way of the Terre Haute & Logansport Railroad Co. s Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 16th. day of March 1916 and on the 23rd. d y of March 1916 in the South Bend Daily Tribune. This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the llth. day of April 1916 will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by these proceedings. The following report was' f iled by the City Engineer under date of Larch llth.,1916. March 1191916. To the Hon. Board of Public Works of the City of $ouch Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen: - The estimated cost of the Pokagon Street grading and gravel roadway improvement from Tecumseh Avenue to the Michigan Central Railroad is $ 3,200.00 and the assessed valuation of the lots abutting on said street is $1,200.00.
