Bids that were received February 25th.,1916 were opened and read by the Board for liL,ber for the Street Departments the same were referred to the St. Commissioner for tabulation. Remonstrance from property owners on Broadway Street, remonstrancing against ,,Any action on the petition for pavement on Broadway from Carroll Street to High Street for at least .two years. The same was read and placed on file with the petition. Permission granted to the American Telephone and Telegraph Co. of Indikna to add one anchor and anchor guy right, one anchor and anchor guy back jointly with the South Bend Home Tel. Co. stub now standing, one stub and anchor left and stub and anchor guy left on one existing pole No. 39 of buheir South Bend Niles Loop on Leeper Avenue at Michigan Central Railroad -elevat#d crossing. Atty. FBrabaugh and H. N. Barnes appeared before the Board and in regard -to the collection of $1159.64 on Hydraulic Avenue Pavement contract put in in 1912 as per letter received and placed on file February 15th.919i6. All members present. f Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 415 for the Pavement of - Michigan Street from North line of La Salle Avenue to South Line of South Street, In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance was filed. (P"roperty owners interested in the ¢mprovement of said street appeared and discussed the different kind of material for pavements.) And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as originally adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Resolved further, that notices be published on thy. s' day of March and 16ths9day. of March 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said City, stating that this Boar*1 receive bids for the construction of said improve- ments up to 10:00 A.M. on the 'fy of Aprils 1916. -The Board reserves the ri} t to re ject'sny and all bids Mr. C. TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC MTk S of the City of South Bend, Indian&' The undersigned, the Chicago, South Bend h Northern Indiana Railway Company, hereby notifies you that it hereby elects to improve that portion of Michigan Street in the City of South Bend described in Improvement Resolution No. 415, wAich is occppled by the tracks of said Company and that portion thereof which said Company is bound by contract with the said city to improve. Such improvement will be made and constructed by said Company in the following manner'. Metropolitan or other equally good paving brick to be used with the exception of a line of nosed block adjoining the inside of the rails, such block to be of hard stone knovez as Ligonier block or granite paving block. Said brick and. block to be laid on the usual two inch sand filler, underlaid by six inches of con- crete extending between the ties and underneath the rail. Underneath said ties and concrete to be a further layer of six inches Of concrete, all to be subject to such further detailed specifications as may be supplied by the City Engineer. This notice and election is given and served under, and in accordance with, the law of 1909 as set forth in the published acts of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana for the year 1909 at pages 412,417,et seq. same being Section 5710 Burnes R.S. 1914, and other laws and parts thereof applicable hereto. The undersigned further hereby requests your honorable body to include the paving and improvement above mentioned and described and the cost thereof in the general contract let by Your Board for the improvement of said Michigan Street under said Improvement Resolution No. 415. J A Committee from the Lincoln Civic Club appeared before the Board and requested that Leer Street be widened between Vistula Avenue and the Lake Shore Fty. No action was taken. 57 Communication Addressed to Mayor K eller was referred to the Board from George McNabb, in regard to appointing plumbers to do the work done by the water words. The sane was read and placed on file. Hearing given on rolls of awards of damages and assessments of benefits in the matter of the Opening of Lafayette Street frori 149 feet north of Indiana Avenue to Indiana, under Condemnation Resolution No, 43. In the City of South Bend, Indiana, In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed, majority of the Board, find that the property mentioned in said rolls are. benefited and ma:ged respectively as shown in said roll(the benefits and damages bed ng equal) and said 11 is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved and all action under Condemnation solution No. 43 is hereby concluded. Hearing given on roll shoving awards of damages and assessments of benefits ( the same being equal) in the matter of Vacation Resolution No, 25 adopted on the 28th. day of December 1915 for the Vacation of a part of Lafayette Street between Broadway and Indians` Avenue, In the City of South Bend' Indiana. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. A majority of the Board therefore declare the above roll filed February gth. ,191b in ill things ratified, confirmed and approved and all the. proceedings closed, In regard to the hearing on the vacation of Stover—Longley Plat under Vacation Resolution No. 26, the same was deferred until Tuesday March 7th.1,1916. at 7:45 P.M. The Board instructed the Clerk to hold up advAisement on Michigan Street until after Indiana Avenue Improvement resolution hearing, and if same was confirmed to advertise both the same time and for to receive bids for both at the same day.
