Board'met in regular session} at 10:00 A.M. All members present.
Mr, W. °B: Calvert appeared before the Board and ,requested that Olive St.
fro m Indiana Avenue to Three S. tracks and Indiana Avenue west of Prairie be fixed up
as the same was in an unpassable_condition. The Street Co mmissioner was instructed to
placed cinders on the above mentioned streets.
Guarantee bond for paving on Tecumseh Avenue signed by Harry N. Barnes
was approved by the Board.
Petition recei ved for light at, Leeper Avenue and Angella Avenue, The
same was read and placed on file.
Resolved, By unanimous consent of the Board that the roadway of Michigan
Street from Division Street to South Street be widened to conform with that north of
Division Street.
Bond and contract for the pipe sewer on Caroline Street from Lincoln
way East to Dayton Street, signed -by De Peape And Coussens was approved by the Board.
Bond and contract for the pipe sewer on Dorby Street from Niles Ave.
to SG. Louis Blvd. signed by De Peape lie Coussens was approved by the Beard.
The following certificate changing assessment roll on Michigan St. agsessr3ent roll was
approved* as per report of appraisers filed with the Board on Jan. 2691916.

We, the undersigned, Board of Public Works of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, hereby certify that heretofore one Dudley M. Shively, et al appealed
to the St. Joseph Superior Court and asked to have appraisers appointed to re -assess the
benefits assessed against their real estate for the construction of a trunk sewer on
Mic igan Street in said City.
That in pursuance to his petition so filed, appraisers were
duly appointed by the Court and returned their appr aisement to said court. That by thier
return they assessed as benefits accruing by reason of the construction of said sewer the
sum of Pour Hundred and fifty Dollars and Ninety three cents ($450.93) as the benefits
and assessments against the real estate of Dudley M. Shively et al in the City of South
Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana deseribed`asfollows:-
Beginnin g on the vest lAne f public alley twenty-five
(25) feet north of the southeast corner of lot No.
Porty-five (45) as shown on the Original Plat of the Town,
now City of South Bend, thence za nning north forty-six (46)
feet, thence west seventy-five (75) feet, thence south forty
and three-fourtlis (40-3/4) feet, thence west seven and one-
half (7-1/2) . Peet, thence east eiglat-two and one half (52-1/2)
Peet to the place of beginning.
THEREFORE, you and each of you are hereby directed to
correct the assessments against real estate, so that the same shall be the sum of
$450.936

Communication received by City Engineer Anderson from E.F.Seebirt,City
Attorney in regard to power of . cieaning out and deepening a natural stream running
through the City was presented to the Board. The same placed on file to be called up
for consideration intwo weeks or February 22nd. 1916 at 10:00 A.M.
Com munication received from Chief Kerr requesting that lumber be supplied
for the making of a cupboard in the Police station. The Clerk was instructed to give
the Chidf an order for the necessary lumber.
Engineer filed assessment roll of awards of damages an assessments of
benefits under Vacation Resolution No. 25 for the Vacation of a part of Lafayette St.
between'Broadway and Indiana Avenue, In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Tae Board has ordered that notices of such awards of damages and assess-
ments of benefits be served according to law, and that a hearing be given on same on
29th. day of February 1916 at the office of the Board in the City Mall at 7:45 P.M.
for the purpose of nearing or receiving objections of any person or persons interested
in said matter.
The City Engineer submitted the list of property owners in the matter of
the appropriation oC bertain� property under condemnation Resolution No. 43
for the Opening of Lafayette Street from 149 feet north of Indiana Avenue to Indiana
Avenue, as stated in resolution on page No.Iz wick list includes the names of
the owners and: holders of property and of interests therein sought to be taken or
beneficially or injuriously effected, and the description of the several pieces of
property which is affected by the said appropriation proceedings.
Thereupon the Board proceeded to award the damages sustained and to
assess the benefits accruing to each piece of property upon said list.
It was thereupon, upon motion duly made and seconded and unanimously
adopted, resolved that said list, together with the amounts of benefits and damages
and net benefits and net damages therein set forth as to the several parcels of land
be adopted and that the respective amount of benefits contained in said list be and
are hereby assessed against the several tracts of land as specifically set forth in said
list, and that the respective amounts of damages contained in the said list be and are
hereby awarded to the several tracts of land as specifically set forth in said list
and that the net benefits or net damages, as tyle case may be as to the respective
tract s of land, contained in said list are hereby awarded or assessed, as the case
may be as to the said several tracts of land.
The Board hereby further sets off the benefits and damages each against
the other Y&ere Yhoth benefits and damages are assessed against the same piece of pro-
perty, tract of land or interest, and hereby fixes said respective n_etbetefits as the
amount that shall be paid by the respective owners as benefits, and further hereby
fixes the respective net damages as to the several tracts as the amount that shall
be paid to the owners of the respective tracts as damages. _
Thereupon, upon motion duly made and seended and unanimously adopted,
the 29t . day of February 1916 at 7:45 P.M. was fixed as the day on which this Board
will receive or hear remonstrances Pror persons with regard to the amount of their
respective awards or assessments, and the Clem; of this Board was instructed to pre-
pare and cause to be duly and legally given, notices to the owners of each parcel of
property, showing the amount of the assessment or award, wif h a description of the,
property affected, akW the date of said hearing.

hundredths (41.08) feet north of the north line -of La Salle Avenue; thence south forty-one
and eigrit--hundredths (41.08) feet; thence east one (1) foot; then ce north parallel to and
one foot distant from the west line of said lot thirteen (13) to the westerly line of said
lot thirteen (13) thence southwesterly on the westerly line of said lot thirteen (13) to
the place of beginning; subject however to the right of said grantors, their heirs, and
assigns to keep and maintain in their present location the cornice and eaves of the dwell-

Rearing given on Vacation Resolution No. 26 for the purpose of vacating the
following described property,to—wits- Plat known as Stover--Longley Addition to the City of
South Bend, Indiana , approved by the Board of Public Works February 23,1915, except that
part shown as ,Jay Street. The part to be vacated is more specifically described as follows
Beginning 20 feet south of the northwest corner of Section 24 Tarp.. 37 N.R. 2 E. thence_ east,
383.6 feet to the west line of the Terre Haute and Logansport R.R. Co. right of way; thence
