W. Slick present. After due, a ons-iderat ion the Board ordered that. a resolution be prepared for Ahe resurfacing of said North Michigan Street,. and D. C. Layton instructed to seep about the City furnishing some. of the material and the steamroller. �. The Board appointed Harry C. Nel$on as an inspector in the, Building Deptartment from June 19th. "1920 to August lst., 1920 at 125:00 par month with bycycle upicaep.. < _ • ; C i.ty• Attorney) requested to give written report on the Hydraulic Avenue sidewalk impr ovemamt _ • L, C. Whitcomb appeared before the Board with property owners. ° Board said Beaning reported two arc lights on Donald Street. -The Board agreed ver- bally -to pay for, s ix of these 'boulevard lights as requested and the people want twenty. Board advised Mr. Whitcomb to see Indiana j& Michigan Electric Company °about .agreement and 'the placing of boulevard lights. Uontlomen:- Dfiring the years 1918 and 1919 we inspected your asphalt patUg on the basis of 2,& cents persquareyard of asphaltic concrete and 3 cents per square yard for sheet asphalt. Owing to the Vast increase in the cost of every element entering into this form I of inspection and the numerous. expo Z1Sive delays that will effect all construction work this year, we repsectfully reques that our fee for the chemical inspection of the asphalt paving constructed and awarded in your City during the year 1920 be increased one-half pax cent per square yard -for each type ofpavement making our total fee three (3) cents per square yard for alijphalt-46-1-ofterete and three and one-half (3*) cents per square yard f, i )r sheetasphaltpaving. In a prociation of same we will make possible extra effort to render your City the very highest form of inspection service. We offer this as an amandmaint to our-proposal.dated January 9,,1920. The Board of Public Works, ° City of South Bend, Ir4 ia,na. . uentlemon: - It is my understanding that the work of • ks paving South Michigan Street from Ewing Avenue to a .point 40' north of Fairview -Street , as described in IMprovement Resolution No. 752., is to be started within a short t ii4e .. This Company requests that when this work is done, the contractor be in- structed to put 6" of -concrete under our tracks in addition to the amount spefified in the c cntrsot. •. It is the intention of this Company -to place its new track in the. center of the street between the above named points instead -of remaining in our present location. It has been deciided to abandon street car service, from 13w ing Avenue south, while this work is being done in order that the contractor- may more quickly finish his work. ° Yours very truly, . R.
