The following res olut ion was received read And plAced on file WHEREAS, the New Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Ra ilroAd has applied to the Board of Public Works for favorable action on the granting of a franchise to cross certain street in the southwest part of the 31ity, inlcuding Prairie Avenue And Olive Streets, with an industrial spur to sery factories now located in that section, as.we-ll s dactories that will lAter be a tablished there, And WHEREAS, the sAid spur, in coneihe et ion with the mAin line of the New Jersey, Indiana, And Illoinois Railroad, will give City of .South Bend A direcVlt And independent connection with the WabAsh Railroad And, Whereas, certain controversies have arisen as to the relative .bens fits to the City by reason of the construction of this.spur, And WHEREAS, after a careful cons eration of the subject from all angles it AppeArs that the said spur can be constr cted without material damages to ap any exis iting factory sites, but will be inestimab a value to the factories at present located in that section of the City And will furni h facilities of very great value to other factories that may be located on its trac ; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of the South Bend Chamber of Commerce, After due consideration, hereby express their opinion that it is for the best interests of the City of South Bend thAt the sAid franchise be granted And RESOLVED FURTHER , thAt the Secretary be instructed to deliver A copy of this resolution to the Board of Public W rks and the Cwmmnn.
