Wednesday March 3rd.,1920.
Board met in regular session at
:15 P.M. All members present.
Deferred hearing had o assessment roll and final -estimate for
concrete pavemezn,t on .North -Shore Drive from Michigan Straet to Leeper Avenue, under
Improvement Ras.olution Igo. 722. :In the C it off' South Bend,'. Ind Tana.

matter up' with Gets. M. Urey Sexton at cemetery. off ice Saturday afternoon.
Continued hearing had on grade, curb and walk res olut ion on Walnut
Street from Sample Street to Prairie Avenue.' In to Above matter the Board deferred'
all action until. MArch 17th. ,1920 at 7:15 P.M.
The following res olut ion was received read And plAced on file
WHEREAS, the New Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Ra ilroAd has applied
to the Board of Public Works for favorable action on the granting of a franchise to
cross certain street in the southwest part of the 31ity, inlcuding Prairie Avenue
And Olive Streets, with an industrial spur to sery factories now located in that
section, as.we-ll s dactories that will lAter be a tablished there, And
WHEREAS, the sAid spur, in coneihe
et ion with the mAin line of the New
Jersey, Indiana, And Illoinois Railroad, will give City of .South Bend A direcVlt
And independent connection with the WabAsh Railroad And,
Whereas, certain controversies have arisen as to the relative .bens
fits to the City by reason of the construction of this.spur, And
WHEREAS, after a careful cons eration of the subject from all
angles it AppeArs that the said spur can be constr cted without material damages to ap
any exis iting factory sites, but will be inestimab a value to the factories at present
located in that section of the City And will furni h facilities of very great value
to other factories that may be located on its trac ;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of the
South Bend Chamber of Commerce, After due consideration, hereby express their opinion
that it is for the best interests of the City of South Bend thAt the sAid franchise
be granted And
RESOLVED FURTHER , thAt the Secretary be instructed to deliver
A copy of this resolution to the Board of Public W rks and the Cwmmnn. Council As an
ind icat ion yo them of the Att idude of the ChAmber of Commerce of South Bend As
expressed through its directors.
