"The fest will also attract visitors from around the region to South Bend." South Bend 2012 Blues &Ribs Fest raises fiends for the city's special needs awareness campaign. Ticket prices are $20 in advance and $24 on the day of the event. Tickets are available for purchase at the following locations: Morris Performing Arts Center box office,Hammes Bookstore at Eddy Street Commons,O'Brien Center,321 E. Walter Street, Super Sounds Catalogue Center in Goshen and Coveleski Regional Stadium ticket office or online at www.MorrisCenter.org. "This is such an exciting time for the City of South Bend. There will be a variety of barbeque ribs vendors from around the region, as well as a variety of traditional and non- traditional food vendors," said Bradley. This year's headline act is Jimmie Vaughan & the Tilt-A-Whirl Band, featuring Lou Ann Barton. For more than four decades, Vaughan, a guitar player from Dallas, Texas earned his living rockin' the blues. Vaughan's passion for the blues and rock 'n' roll goes back to his early childhood.While home from school recuperating from a broken collarbone, he began to play the guitar. Later, he began playing around Texas with a series of bands, most notably the Chessmen,who opened once for Jimi Hendrix. In 1974, Vaughan played with vocalist and harmonica player Kim Wilson and formed the group,Fabulous Thunderbirds. In 1979,the band released their debut album and a fan base grew from there. Vaughn stayed with the group another four years after that, and his first move following his exit from the group was to cut an album with his younger brother, Stevie Ray Vaughan. Their album Family Style was a hit upon its release in the fall of 1990. Vaughn launched his own solo career in 1994 and released Strange Pleasure produced by Nile Rodgers. Vaughan plans his newest release titled:Blues, Ballads and Favorites for later this year. Other performers for the fest include Siegel-Schwall Band,Bernard Allison Band,Blue Lunch, and the Elwood Splinter's Blues Band.
