.,Hearing had on assessment roll and final estimate for Asphaltic
concrete pavement on -California Avenue from Portage Avenue to Blaine Avenue
under .Improvement _Rajeolution No. 666. , In the City of -South Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no written
remonstrance was filed. the Board therefore .find that the property assessed in
said roll filed November 12th. ,1.919 is benef ittted in the amount of assessments
as shwn on said assessment refill and the Board further find that the assessment
roll filed November 12th.,1919 and 'the final estimate allowed November 12th.
1919 should be and then same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and
approved.
Guarantee bond in the sum of One ThousRdd Three hundred and
ninety eight Dollars ($1098.00) signed by,Williston Construction Company by
E. A. Coates, Vice Pros and as .principal and London & Lencashire ;Inde.mnity Company
of America as surety signed by C. W. Ginz, Attorney in fact for the five: year
guarantee on pavement on.California Avenue Prom Portage Avenue to Blaine Avenue
under Improvement Resolution No. 666. was approved by�the Board.
The following communication received, read and placed on file.
November 25,1919.
The Board of Public Works,
South Band, Indiana.
Gentlemen: -
With further reference to the c and it ion of the brick pavement on our
North side car line and with particular reference to your letter under date of
October 14th., notifying the White Construction 'Company that this p vement should
be given their immediate attention,
I am informed by our Roadmaster that ;then White Construction Company
has not taken any steps to remedy the defects it this pavement.
In order that your Board may- have an idea of the c and it ion in which
this new pavement is at the present time I am enclosing herewith the results of an
inspection made by our track department which ahown the places in need of repairs,
We feel that this is a very serious titter inasmuch as this pavement
will , cost us, all told, over -$100.000 and we trust that your Board will insist
on the White Construction Company making the necessary and proper repairs so as
to put the pavement in the condition called for by tht contract and specifications,
May I suggest that the Board look t pavement over carefully
on their next trip of inspection so that you ma�Jis
see what its actual condition is.
