Carl J. Rienke & Sons £iled a Certificate of Insurance conering the General
contract on the adc�ition to Fire House #10.
POLICE DEPARTt�NT: Chief Trevey was absent. Matters pertaining to his
Departnent were discussed.
A Special Police Bond was approved and ordered filed for Charles 4�. Hensley.
ELFCTRICAL DFPARTi•�NT: Mr_, William Qualls� Superintendent� was present and
matters pertaining to his department were discussed, �
A petition was presentfid asking for the installation of a street light
at Bryan and Cushing Streets. This was referred to rir. Qualls for investi-
' gation and report.
Mrs, Feingold� 106 Laurel Street� presented a petition for a street
light at Jefferson and Laurel Streets, This was referre@ to Mr. Qualls for
investigation and report.
Mr. Qualls recomraended the installation of a street light on City Hall
Court. •
Mr. Qualls reported that the street lights ordered in at the intersection
of Roberts and Ruskin Streets� St. Louis and St. Vincent Streets Hill and
Napoleon Streets� Illinois and Huron Streets� Illinois and Ford S�treets�
Wellington and Huron Streets� Wellington and Ford Streets� Emerson and Hildreth
Streets and a change to a 4000 lumen light at Emerson and Ruskin Streets�
on Donald Street and Douglas� Donald and Arnold and Donald and Oliver Streets
have been installed and are now in service.
There being no further business the come before the Board� the meeting
ad3ourned at 11:45 A. M.

Captain.Clenent Hazinski and Lt. Andre�r Orban appeared before the Board
to ask permission to place a banner across P4ichigan Street at Jefferson Blvd.
to advertise the Police Sho�a fron August lst to August lOth inclusive,
Permission was granted.

Pir, Qualls reconmended the installation of light in the middle of the �
block on Arnold Street betweeri Ford & Dunham Street� on Lathrop Street at
Parkview Place� at the corner of Bryan and Darurin Street and at Jefferson
and Laurel Streets� and the Board� on his recoraaendation � directed him to
order the lights installed,
14r. Qualls informed the Board that lights ordered in at 35th Street and
Marshall Street� one midway bett•reen Marshall Avenue and 4Tashington Street
on 35th Street� and at the first Alley north of South Bend Avenue on Georgiana
Street� had been installed and are not•r in service.
WEIGHTS AND hIEASURES DEPARTMENT:___ Mr, Charles J, Burns� City Sealer� was '
present and aatters pertaining to his department were discuss�d.
rir. Charles J. Burns� City Sealer� appeared before the Board to ask per-
mission to place a sign at the City Scales� indicating that the Scale �-rill be
in operation fron � A, M, to 6 P. M. daily� Effective July 1� 19�+9. The
scales will not be in operation on Sundays or holidays. Permission was
granted�for said sign to be erected.
There being no further business to co�e before the Board� the meeting

, Upon the recor.unendation of the Fire Chief� the follot�ring promotions were
made. in the Fire Department to become effective in July 1� 19�+9� Stanley
Olejniczak pronoted from Lieutenant to Captain; tiarshall Van Laere promoted
from Priv2.te.;to Lieutenant and Chris Meinex from Private to Lieutenant.

. An application to the Police Department was examined and ordered filed
for George Hugo Klinghammer. .

i�r. Qualls recommended the installation of street li�hts at Huey and
P7arquette Streets and Thirty-1^hird and Pleasant Streets. The Board� upon
P�r, c�ualls reconnendation� approved and the lights �aere ordered in.
P�r. Qualls was authorized by the Board to start his vacation on August 1�
19�+9. �
