By omitting paintin� on the new� seeond floor, plastered walls and ceilings,

By using stee3: pipe railings instead of aluminum� deduct �a230.00.
By changing from underground to overhead electric service fnom the pole to
the building� deduct �150.00.
This makes the total sum of the General Construction Contract ��+0�112.8
and the total o£ the Electric co�itract �1�9�+5.00 No action was taken on the
other bids,
POLICE DEPART2�fEP1T: '
Mr. Frank Parik and Mr, Crumpacker� Jr, appeared before the Board to ask
permission for the Air Force Association� South Bend Squadron No. 1 to con-
tribute to the Menorial Day observance by dropping flowers over the City Cem-
etery. The Board granted permission provided that the Air Force Aseociation
take all necessary precautions.
There being no further business to co�ae before the Board� the meeting
adjourned at 11:30 A. P�.

A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Saturday�
May 28th� �9�+9. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the
bids for plumbing and heating for the erection of an addition to �10 Fire
Station. After a full discussion it was the decision of the Board that the
bid of Vic Tripple be accepted for �7,530,00.
Comes now the City Engineer� Raynond S. Andrysiak� who proposes that
the following changes be made in the plu�bing contract. ,
By omitting a_ floor drain in the apparatus room� deduct approximately �a250.00.
By o�aitting the type of toilets nentioned in his bid and substituting another
type deduct approximately �150.00. This makes th� total bid approximately
�a7�1�0.00.
The above bids as well as those accepted in the meeting held on May 2']th
are accepted by the Board� sub3ect to the approval of the Common Council/
There being no further business to come before the Board� the meeting
was ad3ourned at 11:00 A, M.

May 31st� 19��-9 at 10:00 A, M. A],1 members were present. Minutes of the last

FIRE DEPARTN,ENT: Chief Andrzejewski was present and matters pertaining to his
department were discussed,
Application to the Fire Department were received and ordered £iled for
ILoseph Leonard Janowski, Chester Michael GJegenka and John Joseph Peszkowski.
POLICE DEPARTI�NT: _ Chief Trevey was present and matters pertaining to his
department were discussed.
The application to the Police Department of Leo Casimer Kwasneski was
received and ordered filed.
A Special Police Bond renewal was approved and ordered filed for Edward
J, Luther.
Rev. Sumrall appeared before the Board to ask permission to erect a tent
at A;ichigan and Haney Streets for the purpose of holding religious meetings.
Permission was granted for the monthos of Julp and August� 19�+9.
Chapter #6 of the Disabled American Veterans asked permission to sell
£lowers on the City Streets on August 26th and 2�th. Per�ission was granted.
' ELECTRICAL DEPARTi-�PdT: Nir. 14illiam Qualls� Superintendent� was present and
matters pertaining to his departraent were discussed.
A petition t•ras received asking for street lights to be installed on
Sheridan Avenue fron Huron to Ford Streets� also on Sheridan Avenue fron
4lestern Avenue to Sariple Streets and on Dunhan Street fron 4lestern Avenue
to Sample Street. These were referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and
report.
Mr. Qualls informed the Board that the follvwing lightsat Pleasant Street
and 31st Street and on Cherry and Napier Street and at the intersection o£
0'Brien and Bulla Streets have been installed and are now in service.

proposal and form of contract to be entered into with the successful
bidder and did on said day order that notice be given to the public and
contractors� that sealed proposals for the furnishing o£ lamps and lights
and necessary maintenance of the sane for lighting the streets� alleys�
boulevards and public places in the City of South Bend� Indiana� be as
follows:
For the underground and overhead distributing systes�s in the
business and residential districts in the City of South Bend� �
for a period of ten years�
all in accordance with the plans and specifications so adopted and on
file in the office of said Board� will be called for and received by the
said Board of Public l•lorks and Safetp during the meeting of said Board
to be held at the regular neeting place in the City Hall in the City of
South Bendz at eleven o'c1ocY. A.M. Central Standard Time on the lst day
