Motorola� Inc. � A Non-�ollusion Af£idavi� and certified Chicago� Illinois Check in the amount of ��5.00 accompanied ' ' bid. ' 1 Motorola Model F M T R U - 30D (E) 30 watt mobile transmitter and receiver as per bid ' �583.35 These above bids� being the only ones received� were accepted by the Board. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT:_ _Mr._ William Qualls� Superintendent� was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. Mr, Qualls reported that lights ordered in on Falcon and Jefferson streets� Walnut Street between Huron and Western Avenue� Diiner and P7alsh streets and change of light at Sunnyside to tkie north section of the jog have been installed and are now in use. ' A request for the improvement of street lighting on Kaley street between Western Avenue and Sample Street was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and report. There being no further business to come before the meeting� the Board ad�ourned at 11:45 A. M. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the bids for an addition to �10 Fire Station. The Clerk was instructed to notify the low bidders to be present at a continuation of this meeting to be held on Friday May 2�th� 19'+9 at 10:3o n. r�. May 2']� 19�+9 ' A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety �aas held on Friday� May 2�th� 19�+9 at 10:30 A. 2�1. The meeting called on May 26th was con- tinued on this date. All members were present. The bids previously received in connection with the erection of an addition and the remodling of #10 Fire Station were considered. The following bids were accepted a� they were� in the Board's opinion� the lowest and best received. For Gcneral Construction - Carl J. Reinke & Sons. This bid was accepted orith Alternates A - B - C o�^.,mited� which made the bid ��+1�788.00. The bid of Colip Brothers was accepted on their low bid of :�2�095.00. The General Construction contract is to be paid out of the appropriation for a ne�r building and the Colip Brothers contract is to be paid out of Repairs to Buildin;s� inasmuch as it t•rill be the renodeling of the old portion of the station. � 288 °� �o��s �ow t�ie City Engineer� Raymond S. Andrysiak� who proposes that the -� 0 ovr ng c anges be made in the above contracts, � By using �+00 series windows instead of those speci£ied in the contract� deduct`� �152.00. By not using locker allowance deduct �6950.00. By omitting paintin� on the new� seeond floor, plastered walls and ceilings, deduct �u333.20. By using stee3: pipe railings instead of aluminum� deduct �a230.00. By changing from underground to overhead electric service fnom the pole to the building� deduct �150.00. This makes the total sum of the General Construction Contract ��+0�112.8 and the total o£ the Electric co�itract �1�9�+5.00 No action was taken on the other bids, POLICE DEPART2�fEP1T: ' Mr. Frank Parik and Mr, Crumpacker� Jr, appeared before the Board to ask permission for the Air Force Association� South Bend Squadron No. 1 to con- tribute to the Menorial Day observance by dropping flowers over the City Cem- etery. The Board granted permission provided that the Air Force Aseociation take all necessary precautions. There being no further business to co�ae before the Board� the meeting adjourned at 11:30 A. P�. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the bids for plumbing and heating for the erection of an addition to �10 Fire Station. After a full discussion it was the decision of the Board that the bid of Vic Tripple be accepted for �7,530,00. Comes now the City Engineer� Raynond S. Andrysiak� who proposes that the following changes be made in the plu�bing contract. , By omitting a_ floor drain in the apparatus room� deduct approximately �a250.00. By o�aitting the type of toilets nentioned in his bid and substituting another type deduct approximately �150.00. This makes th� total bid approximately �a7�1�0.00. The above bids as well as those accepted in the meeting held on May 2']th are accepted by the Board� sub3ect to the approval of the Common Council/ There being no further business to come before the Board� the meeting was ad3ourned at 11:00 A, M.
