This area has been targeted for a new development and the
developers of this land desire to connect to sanitary sewer and water utilities. Currently,
water is available in the vicinity of the properties west of the interchange, but sanitary sewers
are not currently available.
As, part of the 2018 Budget, the City of South Bend Common Council approved the Sewage
Capital projects. One of these projects includes the extension of gravity sanitary sewers
from the development property west of the US 31 / US 20 interchange to a sanitary sewer
pump station located southwest of the intersection of Poppy Road and US 20, This sewer
extension provides minimal impact to capacity of the existingi trunk sewer. The gravity sewer
will discharge into the I/N Kote Sanitary Sewer network which has plenty of reserve capacity.
Projected Schedule for Bidding and Procurement
Advertisement 1: Nov. 2, 2018
Advertisement 2- Nov. 9, 2018
Bid Opening- Nov, 27, 2018
Bid' Award: Dec. 11, 2018
The funding source for the project is the Sewage Works/Wastewater, Sewer Rehabilitation
Account (642-0621-415-42-05).
If there are any questions regarding the subject project, please contact Kara Boyles (Ext.
5933) or Jacob M.
