' The Chief presented his specifications for fire hose� and the Clerk of the Board was directed to advertise for bids on 1000, feet of 22'�double �ack'et fire hose to be returnable on Pdarch 1� 19�+8. � The Chief asY.ed permission for Camiel hionserez and himself to attend a fire school in Indianapolis on February 17-18-19. The Board granted ' per�ission. _ : ' The follo��ing men having passed phy$ical examinations given by the City_ Doctor and the poctor appointed by the r^irenen' s Pension Fund Trustees are now appointed as probationary �enber$ of the Fire Department: Robert Martin and Eugene, D, Luszkot+rski orho will. start 1•rork on February 12 1948 and Frank tdilliam Cosgrove who will start :oork on February 15, 194�, These men will receive the salary of those on a probationary basis� £or a period of six months� after which they will receive, the regular private�s salary. Applications for the Police Depart�ent t�ere approved and ordered filed for Clifton Henry Savage and Edmond Albert Hageriiers. The Chief asked permission to attend a meeting of the Indiana Traffic Safety Council in Indianapolis and the Board �ranted per�ission. ELECTRICAS, DF'PARTN�NT: 2�4r, 4lillian Qualls� Superintendent� was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. The Board authorized i�ir. Qualls to attend a meeting of the riidwestern Section of the International P.'unicipal Signa].nen's Association in Rocic Island� Illinois April 2nd and 3rd. , Mr. Qualls reco�:nended the installation of a street light at the alley intersection between Liain and Iiichigan Streets at dayton Street. The Board approved the reco�endation and directed i�,r. Qualls to order the light in. P-fr.
