A regular meetir�a of the Board of Public Safety was held on P�tonday�
' January 5, 1948 at 10: 00 A.i�i. All metabers ti�rere present. T,iinutes of the
last meeting were read and approved. . There tivere no claims of suppliers
to be approved.
FIR� DEPARTf�1EPdT: Chief Andrze�e�vski was .present and matters pertaining to
his department �vere discussed.
Applicutions tivere received for the Fire Department £rom the folloti�ring
rmen; they vrere approved and ordered placed on file;

to their ability to pass physical examinations given by the City Doctor
and the Doctor appointed by the Firemen�s Pension Fund Trustees: Norbert
Casimer Pejza, Aloysius J. �'lcisol, Bernard S. Kielton, Frank P. Buczkowski
and Joseph 4'Jilliam Idadaras. .
Chief Andrzejeti��sl;i was granted pernission to go to Chicago Januury 6,
1948 to contact manufacturers about parts for a puraper vrhich needs repairs.

Special Police bonds ti°rere approved and ordered £iled for Joseph
�ckstein� �Yalter Buzzard, Tlorman VJ. DietricYi, •Rock P,icS:ianus, Minor Fried-
ine, John J. 'Breit, 19illiam Idichols, Emery Eadics, Frank Gliva, LeRoy
Ullery and Clarence V. Engel. '
Ernest Busch was pro�oted to a CaptA3n in the Police Department and
assigned as Sanitary Inspector in the Health Department and VJilliam - •
TvTillion tiJas pro�oted to Sergeant and assigned to the uniform division
both promotions effective January 6, 1948.
A letter �vas received from Ralph Light askin,n� that he be reinstated ,
as a meraber of the Police Department. I10 action was taken at thia meet-
ing as the Board ivishes to have tim.e to revievr the evidence in the case.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTfdIENT: PRr. tiVilliam Qualls, Superintendont, tivas present
and matters pertaining to his department m�ere discussed.
A resolution adopted by the Conmon Council �^ras presented •to the
Board vrherein they request a report on the light ordered in at 30th and
Hastings Streets and a report on the petition for a street light at
24th and Hastings Streets. This vras rePerred to Pdr. Qualls.
Henry Sherman, a mersber of the Electrical Department, has requested
a tti^�o months leave of abaence, and the Board, �upon Nir. Qualls recommenda-
tion� approved his request and granted him a leave of absence £rom Januaryl
1948 until L?argh 1� 1948.
A petition vaas received aslting for the installation of a street light
at the first alley intersection 1Vest of Chapin Street on Morm oe Street.
This was referred to Ivir. Qualls for investigation and report.
rdr. Qualls inforrned the Board that street lights ordered in at
PJilbur And Bulla Streets and on Euclid Avenue at 4Valnut Street had been
installed and wero notiv in service.

January 12, 1948 at 10:Q0 A.:S. All members vrere p:esent. T,linutes of the
last meeting vrere read and approved. Salary claims in the amount of
�37,776•95 were approved and ordered paid. There tivere no claims of
suppliers to be approved.
