Broden, Jake Teshka, John Voorde, Gavin Ferlic, Karen White Absent: Oliver Davis Agenda: Discussion of Council Agenda Update and Announcements One (1) Interview for the South Bend Animal Care & Control Commission Adjournment Council President Tim Scott called to order the Informal Meeting of the Common Council at 6:08 p.m. with four (4) items on the agenda. The Council went over the agenda for that night's formal Council meeting and detailed the recommendations for each bill from the various committees. Interview for the South Bend Animal Care & Control Commission Mariah Covey, 1202 East Donald Street, stated,I've lived in South Bend since I was six(6).I went to Lincoln, Jackson, then Riley. I went to Purdue twice. I work at Kryder's. I was a volunteer vet for Animal Control, meaning,I do my job for free for the City on time off. Jen Goebel the Director, as well as someone from the Board, have tried to sucker me into this and so in my application I didn't say I would accept a permanent position because I am not really sure what I am getting myself into. I do sit on the Mishawaka Animal Control Board as well. They are also trying to sucker me into the County one (1) and I do not have the time in my life to do all these things. But seeing how they are so backlogged, I said I would be willing to try and help them get caught up and then if it is going well or they need help I would consider a more permanent appointment. So if you have anyone else dying to do this job, I encourage you to pick them. Committee Chair Ferlic made a motion to approve Dr. Covey's appointment. Council President Scott opened the floor to discussion. Councilmember Jo M. Broden stated, So in terms of what is going ahead, are you aware of their 2019 goals and objectives? Dr. Covey replied, I know they are trying to make it so that we don't need us to meet on a regular basis. For Mishawka, we only meet when there is an appeal. When I took that position they told me they only met twice the year prior. Councilmember Broden followed up,And there is going to be a re-write of the ordinance. Are you familiar with that?
