Clerk SPE�IAL P�ZEETING September �3, 1945 A special meeting v�as held on Saturday, September 8, 1945 at 10:00 A.r�7. All members were present. The meeting was called for the purpose of appoin�ing six new men to the Police Department. These men having passed a physical examination by the City Doctor and the Doctor appointed by the Pension Fund Trustees are to report for duty P�Iond�y, September 10, 1945 and are to become regular officers of the City of South Bend effective as of the day of their reporting for duty, provided that they shall successfully pass a period of nine months probation as special officers of said City. Salaries are directed to be paid to these men in accordance with the regular schedule of the monthly pay of officers on a probationary basis. The six men appointed are V'Jilliam E. Nelson, Norman Esary, P�Zanual Sadural, Ra,mond D. t�2axson, Louis �rJ;lliam Ka�fman and Paul TsicCarroll. Robert Claude Brown tivho had previously passed his physical examination and been appointed to the Police Department ti^ras also directed �a report for active duty on lJlonday, September 10, 1945. The Board received from the P�4ayor the roport of the post-�var planning committee .concerning the construction of a setivage disposal plant for the city of South Bend.
