Fd Idtorris, a member of the Police Department, appeared be�'ore the
Board asking that ne be released from ac�ivs du�y. The t3oard discussed
the m�tter at sor.le length, but no decision �vas reached.
A report ti�vas received from Dr. Harmon, the City Physician, shotirin�
that Andrew Daley had passeci a general physical examination and vras
recommended for active Police duty.

last meeting were read and approved. Claims of the follov�ring suppliers

The Chief inforr.ied the Board that James Kidd, a temporar;� fire�an,
had sent in his resignation from the Fire Department to be effective
June 7, 1945. . • • �
The Board discussed t�ie use of the r�u�ber tvro Fire Station for
storaoe purposes. Equipment belonging to the �raffic depar��ent and
the electrical department has been stored there, A suggestion tivas made
.to investigate the possibility.of using .the central pumping station .
,basement for storage purposes, and r.fr . i�illiams tivas asked to make a
,report on it. �

The ,Board granted perriission to the Pistol Tear,� o� the Police De-
p�rtment to attend a meet in Louisville, Yentucky �n June 16, 17 and 18th.
Tki,e Chief informed the Board, that Levi Nulf, a mer�ber of the Police
Department, had been off duty since �pril 3, 1945, and upon the Chiefs '
recorrli�nendation T.ir. Tdulf vaas placed on temporary disability pension effective
June 2, 1945. . �
A bond for a special police commission was approved for Edv�:ard
Le�^�is and was ordered t'iled.
ELF�,CTRICAL DEPARTl�2EI�T: Trir. UJilliam Qualls, Superintendent, vJas present
and raat�ers pertaining. to his department vrere discussed.
Upon nir. f�uall� recommendation, the Board approved the installation
of four street lights in the Bercliff Addition. �Zr. �ua11s v�as directed
to apply for permission to install 13.ghts at e'linding��JOOd Ro.ad and Deven-
shire Drive; Oakcrest and Fifth Streets; Qalicrest and `1'imberlane and on
Timberlane midtivay betv�reen aakcrest and Bercliff Drive.
Pr2r. �ualls submitted a letter and set of plans from the Indiana
Bell Telephone Company, asking for permission to increase their plant
facilities to meet post-ti�ar demands for telephone service in the �,astern
section of South Bend. Upon ��Ir. �ualls recommendation the Board approved
these plans, and permis sion tivas �ranted.
