Speth representing the George Wyman Co. appeared before the Board and took up the matter of the sewer connection in front of the George Wyman Store on North Michigan Street and the following comaanieation was riled. .Tune 18019190 Board of Public Works, South Bend, Ind: Gentlemen: - We are finding difficdlty with the seder in front or our store, .As it sear non stands in the sewer a few feet from the curb ;the full depth of the pipe, There seems to be mats. some difficulty between the curb ,and the main trunk sewer. Just what it is, we are at a loss to determine. Every, hard rain backs, up the water In to our basement to a he ighth of five to six fe""et above - the level, or our sewer which has the proper fall to the curb. Without army question it would appear to be up to the city to rectify the trouble; between the curb ;and the main trunk sewer. This expense of course should not belong to this property. The City engineer, Mr. Anderson, understands fully, we believe the situation. In order to aba lutely clarify this attpustion it is necessary of course for the City to dig up the connecting sewer and ascertain and rectify the trouble. We are willing, however; to assist in solving the quest io for all time as follows: when the City has this sewer .dug up, you are at liberty to #IS down two feet further and instally do place Of 8x pipe, a 10' pipe and this property will assume the additional oost of extra depth and of the larger pipe. Believing that this will meet with the approval o your Engineer and of the Board, as it seems' to us only just, we would thank you t take care of the matter at the earliest possible time as each rainstorm acts as above noted. We might say in addition that our installation titer to the curb is perfect in every detail . Trusting you will give this matter ur early attention, We are, Yours very truly, GEWRGE WYMM CO, It was agreed that Wyman & Ce, agree Of work as stated by Board to to 50%,.
