Jefferson Blvd, South Bend IN. The Executive Vice -President is stepping down on June 30!h. 2019 after fourteen (14) years in that role. A national search for his replacement is underway. Garth Brooks will be performing the first (I') ever concert in Notre Dame Stadium on October 20`b, 2018. The tickets will go on sale on September 14th exclusively on Ticket Master, not through the University. There are currently talks about having exclusive offers for the students of Notre Dame, Saint Mary's, and Holy Cross. Those have not been finalized yet, though. They have reserved a specific amount of tickets for students. Currently, all tickets are going to be priced at ninety-eight dollars ($98) when they go on sale. However, once StubHub and other websites get ahold of some they obviously sell for more on the secondary market. The University is anticipating close to 130,000 people will be on or near campus for the Michigan Game if weather is nice, which it is forecasted to be. Parking and getting around obviously is always a concern but the Notre Dame, South Bend, and St. Joseph County.P.olice Departments have gotten it down to a science on how to keep the traffic moving as well as can be expected. There are a few new initiatives the University is rolling out this semester. One (1) of those initiatives is working with and reaching out to students who live off -campus in the neighborhoods. The Notre Dame Police and other staff are going to stop by some of the houses where the students live after reaching out to them in advance to have conversations on how to be good neighbors and how to be a member of a community as an adult. Another initiative is having two (2) graduate students be ambassadors and visit all the residence halls and inform students on the details of living off -campus. The Housing Resource Fair where landlords and other partners are invited to campus to talk to students will also occur sometime this semester, but there is no date yet. HOLY CROSS COLLEGE UPDATES/CONCERNS: Holy Cross is in the middle of elections for Freshman Senators for their Student Government. There is an event on September 19"' where the college is shooting off fireworks for Founders Day. The same company that does the fireworks for the South Bend Cubs will be doing the fireworks. It was going to be during the first week of school but the weather did not cooperate, so it was moved to Founders Day. The nearby neighborhoods, specifically the Northshore Triangle, have been notified so that their residents are aware. INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTH BEND UPDATES/CONCERNS: The new semester has started well this year. For the first few weeks of every year it is kind of chaos trying to get new students and faculty where they need to go, but that is starting to settle down. We have a parking lot that is currently off-line that was supposed to be open by the start of the year. Hopefully that will open next week which will free up some needed parking space. Adams High School across the street from the IUSB main buildings changed their start and end time schedule. Now they get out at 4:00 p.m. and there are many NSB classes that end at 3:45 p.m., which has created a bottleneck on Mishawaka and Twyckenham. That seems to be settling down as people are discovering which routes are best for them. NSB is currently transitioning chancellors. There is an interim Chancellor for this year and a search committee has formed, which over the course of the school year will decide on a permanent Chancellor. RESIDENTS/NEIGHBORS UPDATES/CONCERNS: There have been parking issues around NSB since some of their parking lots are currently down. The South Bend Police have promised to do more patrols during this time to make sure students are honoring the resident parking only sections near campus. Residents have been reminded to get stickers for their cars if they do live in those areas. Other than that, the start of the new school year has gone smoothly in River Park. Mayor Pete is coming to the next River Park Neighborhood Association meeting on September 13' at 7:00 p.m. at the River Park Library for an update on plans around the neighborhood. There is an open house at the Northeast Neighborhood Center today. This is separate from the 2 NNRO, even though they help with funding for the Center. The Center was opened during President Johnson's War on Poverty and it is the only one (1) in the area to have survived. There is no paid staff except for a custodian and everything else is done on a volunteer basis. Kelly Park was completely rehabilitated and there will be a dedication of the park on September 13th with Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Alt are welcome to that dedication. Holy Cross hosted a flood/sewer neighborhood meeting for the Northshore Triangle Neighborhood. The neighborhood currently does not have a place to meet, so Holy Cross opening their doors was appreciated. The neighborhood is currently going through a transition of leadership as the longtime President of the neighborhood association has stepped down. Currently the neighborhood is looking at finding a new president and getting the advisory committee up and running on a consistent basis again. Residents near Notre Dame are currently exploring the possibility of getting "resident only parking" zones established in the neighborhoods around Eddy St. Commons. Police have also stepped up enforcement of the current areas that have restrictive parking. CITY OF SOUTH BEND UPDATES/CONCERNS Lawn Parking Passes for Notre Dame Home Games are going well this year. The City releases a map for every home game with all the addresses listed. The map can be found on the City Clerk's webpage. The City is in the middle of the process to approve the budget for next year. Resident feedback is always appreciated at the meetings. Hopefully the City will be able to get the Student Governments more involved with this Committee during the rest of the semester. Meeting times and dates can be changed to accommodate the students. The next meeting will be tentatively scheduled for October 2nd at 3:30 p.m. With no further business to discuss, Gavin Ferlic adjourned the meeting at 4:03 p.m.
