Excavation bond for the sum of One Thousand Dollars filed by the
Northern Indiana GaTasl & Elea. Co. with personal sureties. Same refused by the Board
and Clerk instructed to return bond to, Gas Company for a surety company.
Bids were received on the following improvements.

Bids -were referred to`the City Engineer for tabulaton to be
reported on Wednesday November lst., 1922 at 7:15 P.M.
Property owners presented a petition for pipe sewer on E. Indiana
Avenue from Leer Street to lst. alley east of Clyde Street. Board ordered resolution
for sewer on E. Indiana Avenue from Leer Street to 1st. alley east of C10de Street
and on Clyde•Street betwee Indiana Avenue and Dubail Avenue. Resolution ordered.
The Board 'ordered the following lights placed.
9--100 C. P. lights placed on South St. Joseph Street from -Jefferson
St. to Wayne Street.
Reset, Are light now at the corner of Wayne Street and St. Joseph
Street to the,aliey south of St. Joseph Street. Remove one are light from St. Joseph
Street., .
Pole and Wire Inspector recommended that a 100 C.-P. light
be placed at the rear of 722 Wenger Street, at corner of 1st, alley south of Wenger
Street. Same approved.
Petition filed and resolution ordered for a pavement on Marine
Street from Indiana Avenue to Calvert Street.
Petition filed for light at Dayton Street from Miami Street
to Mumford Court. Referred to inspector for report.
Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Alley West of
William Street from Mayne Street to Division Street with asphalt, asphaltic concr&te
bitulithic, concrete or brick, in pursuance to resolution No. 1059 the Board finds
that no petition has been filed with said Board by a majority in number of the free-
holders residing on said street to be improved, requesting that it be improved with
a different"trine of pavement than the kind heretofore adopted by the Board in its
preliminary order; and the City Engineer reports that the Hoban & Roach is the lowest
and best bidder for thekind of pAvement heretofore adopted by the Board, and the Board
find that Hoban & Roach is the lowest and best bidder and hereby lets said contract
for said improvement to him and orders that said improvement be made with concrete
and. all proceedings heretofore had in this matter are hereby confirmed and ratified.

asphaltic concrete pavement on Pagin Street.from Linden Avenue to Hine Street,
under Improvement, Resolution No. 1009. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Resolved that notices as to the assesmnets be published on the
1st. day of November 1922 and on the 8th. day of November 1922 in the South Bend
Tribune and News Times, stating that this Board will give a hearing on the samouns
of such assessments at its office in the City Hail on the 22nd. day of November
1922 at 7:15 P.M.
Resolved further that the entire work under the above contract
be accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed.

ment Resolution No. 1049. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Resolved that the entire work done under the above resolution
and contract let thereunder be in all things accepted and approved and that said

Resolved that said notices in form required by law be published
on,the lst. day of Yovember 1922 and on the 8th. day of November 1922 in the
South Bend News Times and Tribune, newspapers of general circulation in said City
setting and fixing the 22n.d. day of November 1922 at 7:15 P.M. at the office
of said Board in the City Hail South Bend, Indiana as the time and place when the
Board will receive and hear remonstrances against the amounts assessed against
each of the lots and parcels of land on said roll and wil,h hear and determine
'whether such lots and parcels of land will be specially benefitted by said
improvement by the amounts stated and set forth in said roll.

January 1922 at 7:15 P.M. for the purpose of hearing or receiving objections of any
persons interested in said matter.

Gentlemen: -
At the corner of Eddy Street and E. Jefferson Blvd., there is a single
light boulevard post w�-,ich is knocked down and broken by automobiles or trucks at least
once a month. It is evidently quite impossible to maintain this lamp at the present
location.
We would respectfully suggest that you send us an order to remove the present
lamp and install two posts --one a little further east on -Jefferson and another north
on Eddy Street . The only other solution which we could suggest, would be to move
this post as much as possible from the curb which would , of course,, put it out
of line with the row of lights and we think the first method suggested is the better

Gentlemen•
At the request of the Clerk of yaur Noard, I have examined the attached
bond given by the Northern Indiana Gas and Electric Company, and believe that all
such bonds should be increased for the reason that the amount is insufficient
to protect the City in case of accident resulting from excavations. Any one
accident might easily cost the City five Thousand Dollars and I believe that
there should be'the min.imum'bond required.
