AFFIRMATIVE ACTION INVITATION

REV Oxygen H-Tank Retention System, The retention, system consisted of one (1) retention
frame, three (3) body straps, and one (1) yoke strap. The retention system was mounted to a
rigid base with eight (8) 1/4-20 UNC Hex Head F593 Stainless Steel bolts, 1/4-20 Stainless
Steel Nuts, and: 1/4 x 1 OD Stainless Steel Fender Washers.

1 This is a destructive test.Deformation and fracture shall be expected and considered
acceptable.
2 Mount the oxygen tank retention system to a rigid test fixture oriented as it would be installed
in a completed ambulance.
3 Mount the test analog in the retention system.
,4 Attach a calibrated in -line gauge to the test analog to measure the force applied through the,
centroid of the test analog.
5 Apply the following forces through the centroid of the test analog:
33.75 x Equipment Weight, in the forward direction
39.0 x Equipment Weight, in a lateral direction
25.0 x Equipment Weight, in the vertical direction
6 Apply each required force to the test analog in not less than 30 seconds.
7 Maintain each required load for not less than 5 seconds.
8 Release the applied load.
9 For each test direction, record the maximum applied load and any deformation or fracture of
the oxygen tank retention system.
10 A new oxygen tank retention system and hardware may be used for each test.
Full Oxygen, Tank Weight: 135.0 Ibm Required forward applied load: 4557 Ibf
Required lateral applied load: 5265 lbf
Required vertical applied load: 33,75 lbf
Test Results
All required loads were applied and maintained as specified.
No components of the retention system completely detached or were fully severed.
The test analog was retained by the retention system.

This document confirms that CAPE performed testing under project number CTR1 1332 to SAE, Surface
Vehicle Recommended Practice J3102 Ambulance Patient Compartment Structural Integrity Test to
Support SAE J3027, March 2017. This testing utilized a Wheeled Coach supplied ambulance floor
structure with Stryker floor rail installed, and a Stryker analog cot. During these tests, all SAE J3102
required test parameters and performance requirements were met and/or exceeded,

A side impact crash test was performed with a Wheeled Coach ambulance to evaluate the
vehicle's structural integrity and occupant protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
Side Impact Crashworthiness Evaluation protocol was used as a guideline.
SAE J17331, Sign Convention for Vehicle Crash Testing, was followed during the test.
The side impact test was setup with the bullet vehicle's centerline aligned with the fore -aft cg
location of the target vehicle, The bullet vehicle was propelled to speed with a trolley and then
released, allowing the bullet vehicle to roll and impact the curb side of the target vehicle. Speed
of the bullet vehicle was measured just prior to impact using a dual -beam laser speed trap. A thin
rod was placed on the bullet vehicle"s bumper so that an identifying puncture in the target vehicle
would provide post-test evidence to determine the actual impact point.
Prior to the test, all fluids were removed from the vehicles. The air conditioning fluid was
recovered from each vehicle per EPA requirements, 30A gallons (80% capacity) of waiter was
added to the fuel tank of the target vehicle. Vehicle test weights include all dummies, all onboard'
imagers and lighting, all data acquisition equipment, and any other accessory equipment that was
installed prior to conducting the test, The as -tested vehicle weight measurements are shown in
Table 1, Target Vehicle Weights, and Table 2, Bullet Vehicle Weights,

To document this side impact crash test, four real-time cameras and nine high-speed imagers
recording 1,000 frames per second were utilized. The views are listed in Table 4, Camera Views,

During -Test Photographs
SAE J211-12, Instrumentation for Impact Testing, was followed during the test, Vehicle and ATD
instrumentation data was collected with three high-speed data acquisition systems (DAS)
recording 20,000 samples per second. Electrical offsets were removed from all channels per
SAEJ17273. Post-test data processing was performed per SAE J17273 and the analysis section
of the test report. The plots and summary tables that were created from post -processing the test
data may be, found in the appendix of the report.
Five ATD's (Anthropomorphic Test Device a.k.a test dummy) were used in the test, including
three H11150M (Hybrid III 5011h percentile male) ATD's, one ES-2re (EuroSID-2re 50'h percentile
male,) ATD, and one H1150M, (Hybrid 11 60'h percentile male) ATD. The Hybrid III ATD's were
instrumented with head, chest, and pelvic accelerometers, upper neck load cell, chest
potentiometer, and femur load cells. The EuroSID-2re ATD was instrumented with head
accelerometers, upper neck, abdomen, and pubic load cells, and rib potentiometers. The Hybrid
Ii 501h percentile male ATD was not instrumented. Table 5, ATD Designations, shows the model,
ID number, and seating position, for each ATD.

All instrumentation data was filtered as specified by SAE J211-12, with the exception of the
EuroSID-2re rib deflections. The EuroSID-2re rib deflections were filtered at CFC1180 per the
INS side impact protocol. Vehicle and ATD calculations were performed per SAE J17273 and
the supplemental equations shown below.
The bullet vehicle, target vehicle, and the instrumented ATD's were equipped with tri-axial
accelerometers. The resultant acceleration (a,) of each tri-axial accelerometer set was calculated
as shown in equation 1.

The head injury criteria (HIC) is based upon the probability of linear skull fracture when the head
is subject to direct contact or impact with an object such as the B-pillar, A -pillar, or an interior
surface. The HiC its calculated per SAE J17273, FMVSS2084, and FMVSS 2145 as shown in
equation 5, and is the maximum value obtained from a15 ms time interval of the resultant head
acceleration curve.

Therefore, the resulting calculation yields four calculated channels: tension -extension (Nte),

punctured a hole and transferred to the target vehicle. Post-test photographs show that the
actual impact point was within one inch of the intended impact point.
