The questior� of establisiling a loading zone at the Whiteman Bros.
buildin6 on ��uth '_:iic�ni�an Street was brought up by l��r. v�hite:�an, and
after discussion the matter was referred to �.ir. �nderson and Mr. Zill-
�er tn make a personal investigation after r��hicn the Cler„ was askec�
to v�mite tne State Hi�h�:�ay Co_�issior� at La�orte, m�.king certain rec-

T��e '�+hite.�nan Brothers have an opportunity of leasing this build-
ing to tne Bursley Company Qf �lkhart for a wholesale grocery and dis-
pensary. The� reGUest that a loGdin� z�ne be established on South
Idiichigan %treet, �nd have �nde certain reouests to trie Board of Public
'�dor�s and Safety.
V!e have Made a very caref'ul investig�tion and of course have told
them tn4t the State High:�!ay Co?:Lmission controls aIl loading and parking
zones on State Hi�h�:�ays runr.ing t;�rough the City. VJe h�ve been advised
�hat t:ney talk�:d to you r�ga.rdin� this matter on the phone yesteraay
ancl �rlat you had indicated a tivillinF;ness to cooperate vrit,1 the City in
cor_sidering such recommendations as ti�ve might make.
The buildin� has been v�cant foz• a matter of five years �nd �^:e
would disli�e ver;r muchhaving the present tentative arrangement nu]_1i-
fied because suitable arrsng�.nents to tne tenant could not be made.

Our Board feels that the establishment of a loading �one as they wish �
it �r�ould be very hazardous and dan�erous, but #'eels that if you care
to give them permission, a loading zone beginnino 4�. f°eet so,uth af the
south line of the sidewalk on Bronson Street would remove much of the
hazard. This is merely a sug�estion, as we realize you nave full con-
trol. . • . .

The Chief submitted the monthly report for July of the Gctivities of the
Police Denartment, copy of wnich was furnisned each member of the Board
and a cop� placed on file.
Mr. T�iiller, Traf£ic EnginPer, submitted a report of the accident ex-
perience �'or the last ;�ear since the removal of overheadf'stop and go"
signal at Twyckenham Drive and Lincoln 'u'day East , sho�vin� a reduction of
accidents to the extent of 850. This report is on file in t2e office
of tne Board of Publie �afety.
